Well, I've done the calculations and made my decision about how we'll be running our Sealed Premier event for Superman on Friday. Superman's average point cost is 120 (actually 119 and change). With so few pieces in this set that are below 50 points, I decided to increase the point level of our tournament to 400 points, 4 actions instead of the traditional 300 points, 3 actions.
Sure that means that Darkseid will have Mastermind fodder but at least people will get to play multiple heavy hitters on their teams.
What are other people running for their sealed events?
Team Mobilehorror were the proud purveyors of Print & Play from pre-NECA 2008 to 2015. A good ride while it lasted. Keep rollin' 8s .
I'm keeping it at 300. That's the official format for sealed events and I'll change it when Wizkids changes it.
Really? 300 points is official?
I am doing it 400 points with 2 boosters. Unless enough of the players want to play at a higher point level, then I may do a 500 point 3 booster sealed.
No rest until the great works of Anthony Edward Stark are in clix forms
Soon...his works will be realized... in 2013 the Hall of Armor in clix!
going to 400 for a couple of games would be pretty cool. I would still like to see some 300 pointgames though, to see how the the beasts fair on their own.
It's the format they used at Gencon. It's also in the Official Comprehensive Tournament guide. In section 4.1 it states that your build total should be 150 points for every standard 5 figure booster. 2 boosters would be 300 points.

Official format is fine.
But I feel it's more important to listen to the players. And if popular vote is 400 or 500 points. Why not.
And so far everyone I've talked to locally wants a higher point sealed for this set.
And I agree. This set looks to be more fun at higher points.
what we are doing at one venue is "Build to lowest."
Basically everyone cracks their boosters and then adds up the total point cost. The lowest total point cost ((minus Superman Robots)) of two boosters will be the point total of the tourney.
So one person will play all their figs.

I'd like to see the average point cost for this set calculated. You'd need to take rarity into account when calculating because you can't give the SR's the same weighting that you'd give the Commons. When you calculate the point cost averages, each rarity's point average comes out to:
I don't know what factor you'd multiply each rarity by before adding them up to come up with a weighted point average, but clearly this set would make it every easy to do a 400, 500, or even 600 point sealed tournament. You'll probably have 10 figures to choose from (maybe 11 if you pulled the BiBtB figure) so attaining a higher point build for sealed isn't an issue. The only question is whether or not you want to let your players play more of their newly pulled figures.
Disclaimer: When adding up the dials and averaging the point cost for each rarity, I didn't count the different starting lines for Superman, Super Girl, and Black Adam. The reason being that if you're trying to reach a higher point total, you're going to take the most expensive version.
I usually let the players decide Before opening their boosters.
I can't see them choosing 300 and I might even offer 500 4 actions as well.
This seems like fun to me.
