Today we return to the battle-ravaged plains of the planet Sakaar for our latest spotlight. Today's preview is none other than the despotic monarch known as the Red King!


The Red King begins play arrogantly maneuvering into battle with Charge, confident that his exo-skeletal armor will conquer any who dare stand against him. Combine the Red King's Charge with early-dial Blades/Claws/Fangs and his Gigantic Reach trait, and he is a deadly threat to any enemy within 7 squares! Now that's a sword arm with reach! [...]

I'll team him up with Silver Savage to create an anti-Warbound themed team.

This guy is a beast for his points. He effectivly has 7 range in a set lacking range and he can ignore terrian while charging. Add in the good attack numbers and the high defense and you have yourself a winner. Sure his dial tanks but he still has 10 clicks of life and some great powers for under 200 points. This guy has winning written all over him.

Finally the first piece in the Hulk set that I actually want to own.

He's decent. The only disappointment is that his dial isn't that great... I love the blades and impervious, but his attack is too low in my opinion. He could use an 11 attack on the first 3 clicks, 10 attack on a few more, and then 9/8 for the rest. I love the sculpt though. I'll be wanting this figure for sure

19 Impervious is going to be hard to knock him off of. His damage SP actually makes Knockback a serious threat and his Trait makes him the ultimate giant. He's going to be a tough nut to crack for sure. Pretty impressive.

I agree, the AV on his last 2 clicks remind me of IC figs, but the GIGANTIC REACH with Quake on clicks 6,7, and 8 can be REALLY cool !!! Too bad they do not overlap w/ SWAT, but we can't have everything.

I don't think Red King was all that strong (Hulk thrashed him in what? 10 seconds?) but I still think this is a cool figure and it's awesome that the Warbound will probably be finished.

I love the thought of charging someone and stopping 3 spaces shy, then hitting with BCF. Especially if the opponent doesn't have Charge, HSS or Range.

I look forward to trying him out with Shake Off. If he declares a Charge (an action that includes a close combat attack) on the middle clicks, it seems like he would treat everyone within 3 squares as adjacent because of Gigantic Reach (it doesn't say for close combat purposes)... that's a lot of potential Shake Off damage, and since he also has Swat on those clicks, all will be knocked back and potentially collide with one another.

I just ran him against Green Scar from M&M. Close battle, it depends on who hits first. But, then again, that's without objects. Still in Hulk's favor, but this piece is pretty powerful in it's own right. I would have liked to see him with a 6 range, that would have increased the playability for me.

I don't know about colliding with one another, since Knock back would happen simultaneously and he is the center point. They would all be knocked out away from him. Now, if they hit characters out of the Shake Off reach, then I could see it causing some fun damage.

Shake off + Armor Piercing will make him pretty nice in Golden Age. Although, with all that, you better be packing Fortitude on him too, just for insurance. A monster no doubt, but still with flaws.

A fun dial, can't wait to snag him.

Yay! Another SR that I don't care about. Not a character I have any strong feelings for.

If I pull one, he's going in the trade fodder for someone I do want. Simple as that.

Not bad, but I note that the knockback SP isn't optional, and can damage friendly figures, so you'll have to be careful where you put his allies.

An "incredible champion" is up next. Definitely Hercules.
