In this case, REAL POGS has less to do with being about the kids game that was such a big deal in the 1990s and more to do with word play. It’s an example of one of the many anagrams that are possible for an earlier TOC in Another Realms --- a thread marked by a lot of fun exchanges that led to the forging of some very real friendships.
PERGOLAS is another example of an anagram using the same letters. So far as is known, it is NOT the name of an Elf imagined by Peter Jackson, nor does it mean being in accordance with a certain village in Poland.
Possibly, it’s just a word that can be taken at face value
So imagine a garden -- maybe a beer garden , with wooden benches, a little oompah music and, of course, brats on the grill! -- where, as in Philadelphia, it's always sunny, but pergolas provide some shade. Thanks to those overhead lattices with vines accounting for cover of sorts, the garden’s sitting area becomes an ideal place for hanging out to shoot the breeze with others --- like an open-air clubhouse.
That said...welcome to the garden of Real Pogs --- in this case, a non-specific thread intended to grow as a gathering place for Realmsers who enjoy the fun of friendly exchanges and where squabbles and efforts to provoke them are never in season.
Anyone care to help cultivate it?

Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
So....in cruising the Realms, I’ve noticed that many are convinced that the prices for pieces in the Hulk set, including SRs, will drop like a rock --- and quickly. Some of it figures to be wishful thinking, but it does seem that in both the last two sets -- one Marvel and one DC -- the new hotness went cold sooner than we expected.
Since I’m not a Hulk fan, maybe the thing that has me most interested in the set (aside from the She-Hulk and Ghost Rider figures) is seeing whether the secondary market prices really will drop sooner than later.
Thus spake the guy who is the king of wishful thinking when it comes to the prices of any new SRs with the “Fantastic Four” keyword.
Pergolas immediately reminds me of some BBC garden project show that was very popular some years back, where for a while that was a sort of essential thing they'd erect in people's yards as part of the surprise. I think even they became sick of it after a while.

Hulk super rares should be cheap as heck. It's possible that if the set really undersells there will be less on the secondary market so prices will be driven up a little, but demand should be low as well. Worst case scenario it undersells a lot, the lack of available figures makes prices high, and eventually the packs get marked down because they aren't selling, so the figure supply goes up and meets/exceeds demand, I wildly speculate.

And no, I don't know the link between those things.
I never played Pogs, I was busy on the golf course. But regarding prices of the Hulk set, I too think these are going to drop like rocks. We haven't seen any figure that will stay above $20 yet.

I'm expecting that in general we're going to continue to see prices cooling off more quickly and not reaching huge peaks to begin with... and all in all I'm fine with that.
I am wondering if among the unrevealed remainder how many, if any, of the pieces will be "I wasn't excited about this set... until now!" pieces. The potential's there, but I haven't been thrilled with the designers' approach on dials so far in the set. Some touches are wonderful, but others... not so much.
Well, I'll admit that finding a sealed bag of Spawn Pogs in the closet kinda inspired me...if "inspired" is the word for it.
After seeing this last year and realizing that you can buy huge amounts of pogs for very little on Amazon, my D&D group honestly tried to get a pogs league going at a local game store. It did not take.

I think Wolverine could be that figure for some people. It could also be the final nail in the coffin for other people. Going back to the price angle, I really do think that having exceedingly good chases and super rares that are high value really do help a set. It's not easy for people to get them, but that makes the set sell better, and it seems to give people an overall better view of sets. I know I'm more excited when I see a figure that's really good that is going to take some luck and/or luck to pull. If the most difficult to pull figures are just "average," then I lose excitement for a set a lot faster. I think the last few sets have been utter failures in the sense of making chases that people want. I know this is going to be unpopular, but I think it would help the enthusiasm for sets if they made more "Crisis Superman and AA Lampost Bat" chases. I don't like paying out the butt as much as the next guy, but it really does drive up excitement for the game.
Holy Crow, never mind the oompah --- that's music to my ears.
Well then you'll be happy with this set. I pride myself on being spot-on with predicting the prices of figures, I feel I just have a knack for it. Thus far, nothing stands out from Hulk.

Well, I dunno if that qualifies as a noble experiment, but I'd certainly rank it as a nice try to have fun.
What's the matter with others outside your group --- don't they realize that what's old can be new again?

It would have been for novelty, obviously, but for the very specific novelty of having a huge, elaborate pogs leaderboard taking up an entire wall of the store. I would not have settled for less than that.
