Much like the awesome destructive power that lies within the sarium-krellide heart of the Gamma Bomb, an amazing power lies inside the pineal gland of brilliant scientist Banner, the power to transform into an unstoppable Hulk.
But what about the brilliant science? We shouldn't forget this man has inventive genius equal to a Stark or Von Doom... what can Bannertech accomplish in Heroclix? And how much damage makes him... angry?
Alter Ego: Hulk: Give Bruce Banner a power action that deals no pushing damage and replace this character with #201 Hulk on its orange starting line. Existing action tokens on this character and action tokens for this action are applied to the replacement. This power can't be countered. Bannertech Gamma Inhibitors: Bruce Banner can use Incapacitate. If he uses Incapacitate to target a character with a printed damage of 4 or more, modify his attack value by +2. You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry. When Bruce Banner takes 2 or more damage from an opponent's attack, if after actions are resolved this power is revealed, you may replace this character with #201 Hulk on its orange starting line. Existing action tokens on this character are applied to the replacement.
So, looks like the HeroClix version of Bannertech is mostly Perplex. There's also Energy Shield and a range of 5, but apart from boosting your fellow Hulkbusters or Scientists you have to push to get to the good stuff. I'm not really a fan of Incapacitate, so if I have to get 5 spaces away from a Gamma-powered brute to stun him, I really appreciate the attack bonus.
Now of course the power that will bring Banner to my game table isn't Gamma Inhibitors, it's... "Please Don't Make Me Angry". If (while playing) I wasn't quoting the old Incredible Hulk TV show before, I'm definitely starting soon. You Wouldn't Like Me When I'm Angry, now my number one favorite power name, finally gives us an Alter Ego transformation immediately after taking damage. This just makes so much darn sense. Banner is still incredibly fragile, but no moreso than a dozen other Scientists we've seen since George Tarleton...
Compared to the Air Strike power I revealed last week, none of Banner's powers seem to be as powerful, or as capable of changing team-building strategy at large. But I think there is a lot to be said in defense of HeroClix pieces that "feel" thematic, that really give you a sense of playing Dr. Banner like he really would be. I'll play him with a smile, and if I can send him out to block opponents with nothing higher than 2 Damage, I'll smile even more.
Stay tuned for another member of the Hulk family as Hulk preview week continues tomorrow!

He's not blowing me away, but I agree that his auto-hulking power feels very accurate and adds a lot of flavor to the figure. Wizkids did all right with this guy.
It makes sense that he can't transform into the HoMulk or the Main Common. This gives a reason to get the GF Hulk; average though he may be, his last 3 clicks are at par with the Main set one as though that one has two clicks of 50-50 OW and damage ignore, the GF one isn't saddled by Battle Fury (and none of thenockback sp). You just have to be careful this one doesn't get one shotted past his transform clicks.
