I was just unclear on how multi-target sharpshooters work when they are based with an opposing character. I know sharpshooters can make range combat attacks while based but can they target multiple different targets?
Two questions: Can the sharpshooter target multiple figures if one of them is adjacent and the other is not?
And
Can the sharpshooter target multiple adjacent targets?

No and yes. They cannot shoot out of base contact, they can target multiple characters that are in base contact.
Trade to Canada. We're friendly, and we love Beavers..........

SHARPSHOOTER
This character can make ranged combat attacks against adjacent opposing characters. When this character makes a ranged combat attack, it can ignore the effects of opposing characters on line of fire
1) No
2) Yes

Since Legolas is both a Sharpshooter and has multiple targets, this is a good place as any. First the power:

Legolas does his Rapid Shot on a Running Shot attack, targeting 3 figures, so he gets +2 to damage. I target Lex w/ a 16 defense, Bizarro w/ a 18 defense, and Superman w/ a 18 defense.
I roll a 4...I miss Bizarro & Superman but hits Lex; does Lex take all 5 damage?

Yes, the modifer only checks targets, not hit targets. Then when it does hit you have to assigned damage based on hit targets.

So if your sharpshooter ignores the effects of opposing characters for line of fire why can't they shoot non-adjacent characters when based?
Because it states that you can make ranged combat attacks against adjacent characters but it does not say that you ignore adjacent characters

People always fail to mention the source of this rule.
The normal rule is that if you are adjacent to an opposing character, you cannot make ranged combat attacks, at all.
This rule is still in effect when you have the sharpshooter ability. The sharpshooter ability just says you make make ranged combat attacks against adjacent opposing characters.
Sharpshooter does not override the regular rule, it merely adds to it.

Ok. I was taught differently when I first picked up the game and have never been corrected. I read the ability and figured since "it can ignore the effects of opposing characters on line of fire" it meant the sharpshooter ignored the effects of adjacency (kind of like shooting through someone). I can appreciate the distinction. Thanks.
