If I mind control a character with outwit, can I use that outwit? Mind control from the PAC states...
MIND CONTROL. This character may make a ranged combat attack to give an action to an opposing figure. (Optional) Give this character a close combat or ranged combat action. If the attack is successful, [b]give an action to the target figure as if that figure were a part of your force[b]. The target figure receives an action token, if applicable. A successful attack does no damage to the target figure. This character takes 1 click of damage for each 100 points of the target’s point value. If a character with this power has a range value of 0, assume that his range value is 4.
So once the character is mind controlled do I have to give them the action immediately? The FAQ states that Outwit can not be used in the middle of an action. I'm not saying that the mind control/action of the other figure is one action, but hey, maybe it is; what I am trying to say is that if as soon as the Mind Control attack is successful, if I must immediately give the mind controlled figure an action of some type, then there is no opportunity to use the Outwit.
I hope what I am asking makes sense, I know its a bit convaluted. Thanks.
From what I've read about this before, Mind Controlling someone is considered one gigantic action. You make the roll to MC, and if you get the person, your MCing action extends to theirs. This means that the character being mind controlled cannot use Perplex, Probability Control, or Outwit. To me this makes sense, as the Mind Controller is just sort of dangling the person like a puppet in this semi-coherent state, not able to think clearly/independantly, but perfectly able to aim a gun if told.
Yes you may use the character's Outwit. When you MC a fiure you gain access to all of their powers and abilities. It has been ruled repeatedy here that since Outwit itself does not cost an action to use, you may Outwit or Perplex anything you can legally as long as it is before you give them an action. After you give the action, they revert to their owner's control so there is no chance to use their powers. Note that you can use Outwit even if they used it themselves on their turn.
PC is another matter; since it by definition requires a die roll to act upon, if you MC a person with PC you may use it for the action you give them only, since technically they are your figure and their action doesn't end until a success/failure has been rolled. PC allows you to "retry" the roll, leaving the action open until the second roll has been made.
Whenever someone asks me what I think the most dangerous animal is, i tell them it has to be a shark riding on an elephant, just eating and trampling everything in sight.
