Since Xplosion came out, it has become rather obvious that Perplex poses a problem for the stability of the already unstable HC rules system.
Having one model deal out 10 clix of damage at range or in close combat seems a bit unbalanced. Fielding a team of con artists, mystiques, etc. and one range attacker, you can easily one punch most models in the game.
I have proposal that my play group has made a house rule. No stat on any one model may be modified more than once per turn.

I'm not quite ready for this myself but this would be a reasonable fix. If you want a rationale then note that a use of Perplex expires as soon as a stat changes because the dial is clicked. Having a stat change due to a second use of Perplex is similar and so the first use might expire in the same way.
This will be somewhat effective, but then I just perplex my range by 1, my attack by 1 and my damage by 1. I hit further, harder, and more accurately. Perplex isn't going away and so we need to stop complaining about it and deal w/ it. Everyone has access to the same figs for the most part so in that respect, it is fair. Take out the perplexers and you have nothing to worry about, or kill LOS and they can't do anything. It isn't an insurmountable problem.
Every team combination can be hard to beat and also very easy to get around when you are using perplex. For the total DC team of Perplex Death(TM) a 300 point Sinestro and as many perplexers as possible to make up the points... ouch you would think. It took me about 5-10 minutes of thinking and team designing to come up with a team that could kill the Perplex Death team without a problem.
Get a brick like chactacter like The Thing and first strike him across the map to where all those (generally really weak) perplex characters are and open up. Yes you may sacrifice a powerful character but then the entire point of the team is defeated and a lot of players wont be able to cope with that very well.
Besides a 300 point Sinestro on his own isnt all that hard in a big point game.

Even Jesus wasn't this minty!
I would have to agree that any team based with perplexers can be beat with good strategy and well played moves. At the tourney that I was at Saturday someone fielded a Vet Mandarin, rook Storm, Rook Psylocke, Vet Paramedic, and 6 Con-Artists. I believe that all these Perplexer teams are meant to be played outdoors so I knew I needed to win the map choice first roll. I won the roll and chose the warehouse map with the boxes on it. Then chose to start on the closer side to my opponent or the west side of the map with him on the north. also when I placed my objects I put them just inside the door leading to the outside hence blocking off that doorway. Also the side that I set up on was the one behind the blocking boxes. My team was this :
I used the free move from JLA and then copied it with the doombot most of the game. The player tried to push his perplexers the first round so I made some away from his team waiting to see how he would use the Storm/Mandarin combo. I also Shot at his Con-Artists on my second turn with bullseye forcing him to do something to stop him. He moved Storm and Psylocke and the I went in the next round and clobbered Mandarin with a shot from Abomination and then a love tap from Bane and 9 points later the match was over. I lost no one and took all the points. If you think about the strategy and play indoor then you stand a better chance then if you play outdoor and allow LOF. Just my two cents.

Perplex is easily dealth with. You're not going to have 10 perplex points to deal with on round one or two or even three. Only three characters have pulse wave to start. Then you have to get them into position. 10 perplex points is also 110 points of your team. Then once the heavy hitter is taken out, and he will be, all you got left are some easy to hit perplexers. Energy Explosion and Barrier will mess up a perplex team like nobody's business.
yes, perplex is easy enough to deal with, the point is that the ability to pump up hulk damage from 5 to say 11 with 6 hookers, uhm con artists is unrealistic. and besides if the whole point of the game is to design teams that are meant to beat a superplex team then whats the point of playing if every one has to field the same concept team.
i also feel that perplex should only raise a stat once.
the day that a skull commando can with the help of a few hookers take down a savage hulk is the day that the game truly is borken.
go here only if you are not a child, act like a child or take offense at anything funny:
I love perplex, it is a fun ability and I greatly respect it. I haven't faced a team of all perplexers, but perplex is ok in my book. And there isn't one character with perplex who shouldn't have it. And I'm willing to argue it, when bored I try to think of the many ways to explain perplex and outwit, personally these two powers give the game flavor. I don't think anyone would be able to stop laughing to actually fight a Hulk and 2 dozen hookers; except for batman, black panther, captain america, cyclops and a few others.
and it is quite rewarding to slap a hooker around... that sounds really sexist.

INCORRECT!
there are actually the LE Annihilus
the Veteran Avalanche,
the Rookie, Experianced AND the Veteran Blizzard
and the Rookie, Experianced and the Veteran kang.
so there are four to eight depending how you count them, not three
dang that sounded rude, i didn't mean it to sound rude, please don't take it as being rude.
I've seen and used much peplex since Xplosion came out. Building a team of perplexers is just bad team construction. If you move the perplexers as a unit then EE or pulswave will deal with them. Barrier will also be very efective versus perplex. Perhaps barrier characters will become more "competitive" now. Use Barrier to deal with Perplex and Outwit.
Perplex is cool, but for someone like me who doesn't use support peices like ever, I'm going to have more mobility and gon knock some sucka usin only on fig to deal damage out!
