Vision at full health is hit for 4 damage and knockback, bumping into the wall. Is knockback damage factored in from his first clix where he has Super Senses (causing him to take an addition clix) or his fifth clix where he has Impervious (allowing him to shrug the damage off)? I believed it was the former, but was shown evidence to the contrary and wanted to confirm.

KB damage is taken after the damage from the attack, and is separate. So take the clicks from the hit, then do the KB and take that damage. At that point his damage reducer is showing so he ignores the KB damage.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.”

Exactly this.
Knockback damage is a seperate source of damage, and occurs after the initial damage was already dealt and the dial turned.
If a damage reducer or combat reflexes appear, then they will not take knockback damage (unless they were knocked off of a roof and were merely tough).
