Sinister Six #15 - "Key to the City"
Written & Edited by GarganisScorpion
"Eh? Is that it?" Octopus questioned, "Are you sure that's all?"
"Yes. I scouted every entrance and alcove short of revealing myself to them," Kraven reassured his criminal leader. He may have only recently regained his sanity, but Kraven's tracking skills remained as sharp as ever. If he said that Black Tarantula wasn't in Hammer Industries, then Doctor Octopus believed him.
"One lone monkeyman and some ninjas? Piece 'a cake!" Sandman scoffed, swelling his fists into thick hammers with which to break into the facility. The steel shutters on the industrial plant's entrance proved little trouble for the superhuman Flint Marko, his booming punches cracking through Hammer's defenses within seconds.
"Octopus!" Hammer cried out desperately, seeing at last a chance for his salvation. He and the Sinister Six hadn't exactly been friends but they had at least treated him with more respect than the Black Tarantula' gang did. Even now Tarantula's man (if you could call him that) the Gibbon, had Justin dangling from a length of chain for their amusement. "Octopus, get me down from here! I'll cut your costs in half, just keep me away from these heartless fanatics!"
"Of course Justin, of course... I can't leave my business associate twisting in the wind now, can I?" Doctor Octopus said with an evil grin, mildly amused by the thought of doing just that. But as satisfying as it might be to see Hammer suffer further indignities, Octopus needed him and his facility. Clearing these ninja out shouldn't be terribly difficult, but Octopus was forced to wonder: If Tarantula's men weren't here, where were they?
*****************
"So, we meet at last" rumbled Wilson Fisk. Over the past weeks his criminal empire had been hacked away at by the Sinister Six, his privacy invaded by the press and their flashy mercenary superheroes. But the rumors of the steadily spreading influence of the Asian gangs and their supposed roots in eastern mysticism that had concerned the Kingpin the most. The way they moved undetected through the city carried the scent of an information leak. If someone within his organization was feeding these "True Believers" inside information as he suspected, then it was really no surprise that they had penetrated his private tower's innermost sanctum.
"We come only for what is ours by right," spoke the wrinkled little monk. "Give us the Celestial Key."
Fisk was only slightly surprised. It seemed as if everyone who knew of the key's existence coveted it for themselves. First the Sinister Six and now this offshoot of the Hand. It was clearly quite a valuable commodity, and Fisk knew not to let such a valuable slip through his fingers as Hammer and Octavius had. Even now he had Owl and his men down at the docks, looking to secure safe passage out of the city so Fisk could decide exactly what to do with it without leaving it vulnerable. But once again it seemed he had acted too slowly.
"Give us the Celestial Key" the monk repeated, his eyes flashing a smoky white. His words somehow carried extra weight. Kingpin felt the wizened guru's voice hanging over his skull like heavy wool, pulling at his thoughts.
"NO!" Kingpin snapped suddenly, rising to his feet and slamming both fists against his desk like an angered gorilla. If a competitor came to talk business, cut a deal like those Heroes for Hire, that was one thing. But Wilson Fisk was not some weak-minded brute who could be pushed around by mind tricks!
The pain in his knuckles shook the cloud from Fisk's brain and the loud sound even seemed to startle the True Believers from their meditative calm.
"Leave this city," the old mystic tried again. "Your empire has crumbled, your fortunes wasted. Take what you have left and leave this city, before your life is forfeit as-"
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" Kingpin roared, bringing his fists down again with such force that his desk broke into two distinct halves. This... this was the final insult.
"Tombstone! Viper!" Fisk called, bringing his elite bodyguards quickly to his side, his son Richard keeping close behind the green-haired femme fatale as well. Kingpin undid his necktie and shrugged off his huge white jacket, stripping down to his undershirt as he preferred to when engaging in a workout. This fight he wanted to make sure he got his hands dirty... it had been a long time since an enemy had made him quite this furious. The only way to vent that sort of anger was the feeling of bones snapping between your fingers.

Points: 4
Immobile, Can't Be Destroyed Once per game per character, give a character occupying Scorpio Key's square a power action and roll a d6 that can't be rerolled. On a roll of 5 or 6, place this object on that character's card. Modify that character's range value by +2 and that character can use Penetrating/Psychic Blast. When that character is defeated, place this object in the square that character last occupied. At the end of the game, if an opponent controls this or you control no characters, your opponent scores this object.
