If this has been asked before I apologize, search function turned up lots of 3d object threads but nothing about dials.
I have a Ziran the Tester, and its 600 point dial is wrong. it has his 800 pt dial in his 600 pt slot, as well as having the correct 800 pt dial in his 800 pt slot. Since Wizkids doesn't have a replacement program for it (and if GSX is anything to go by, they won't replace colossals), I was wondering if I could print out a dial, take apart the base, and replace the faulty dial with the correct one.
There are ways to print dials, but I think the problem is pulling apart his base. I have never had a 3x6 base before, but right now I see no way of pulling it open other than breaking it.
Venue: The Gaming Goat in Elgin, IL. Find us in the WizKids event system.
I have means to cut open the base and then re-attach it via things like glue/pins/ect. I just want to play my colossal in tournaments but I can't while hes got the wrong dial. I just want to know if dials qualify for print and play.
Dial stickers aren't covered under print and play. What youre talking about is fine for home games, but unless your venue is pretty chill, they might frown upon it. And it's definitely illegal for sanctioned tournaments. Sorry mate, you might be SOL as far as tourneys are concerned. Check with your judge though...hopefully he is sympathetic to your plight!

I disagree with rorschach on this one; if its got the wrong dial and you have the means and wherewithall to fix it, I'd fix it and invoke the "Dinkage: rule.
If someone tells you "Thats illegal" you just tell them to go find a cop. Its prepostrous to think, at ANY expense, that a figure cannot be fixed in this way so that you may use it.
Now, that having been said, I have taken apart a few MageKinght 3x6s and they are (or were) a little bit of a beast! Hopefully these new ones are a little friendlier.
If Wiz-Kids arent going to fix/replace a broken Colossal, then it should be OK for you to do it. Just have the judge verify the dial before you play him. Also, let him know WAY before the game so he can see that you arent trying to cheat.

FWIW, I agree, I was just giving the official answer. I agree that a homegrown dial is just fine, and there are more than a few within my own circles... I'd meant to make that clearer, but it was the middle of the night lol.
In a sanctioned event (gencon level here, not IG) you should get no leeway. The figure is illegal as the event follow pretty strict rules.
In a local event (IG games etc), it's ultimately up to the judge. You should get some slack, particularly if the others at the emir know/trust you more. But somebody objecting is a very real possibility, and unfortunaely for you, they have the rules on their side if they do. Sure the dink rule applies, but so do the tournament rules. Judges call is final.
In home games, knock yourself out. And if anybody objects, knock them out. I kid of course, but this is the only place where the dink rule holds more weight than the written rules, and you should feel free to play the (legitimate) dial with no worries.

I would send an email to WizKids anyways, see what they might be willing to do to help your predicament. Couldn't hurt to try considering the cost you spent.
If that fails. Take it to your judge, explain the situation and show him the dials. Tell him that you will have him check the re-made dial before playing so they can check it for accuracy.
If your judge is unwilling to allow this RIP THE HEAD OFF... and mail it back to WizKids.

As a thought, because Galactus's base isn't attached to his legs, I wouldn't think it unreasonable for them to swap out just the base so the dials are correct. That wouldn't be cost-prohibitive the way sending back the whole thing would.

This isn't a bad idea.
Just let people mail the bases in and send them a new (and correct) one.
I'd return it to the store. Wizkids won't even reply about it probably. I'd take it back to the store you bought it at, and if they won't take it back, I wouldn't shop there anymore.

They don't keep any of these parts in spare reserve. There's no way to effectively manage it, really. And while I've mostly had stores okay with returning defective product (or exchanging it), they are sometimes leery of doing that with collectibles, and there's no way of knowing which colossal you might get.

So, because he got a faulty dial, he should fault an LGS that won't rip through their product to replace it? I mean, if it was a Wal-Mart or a Target, sure. They have replacement policies. But, you're saying that an LGS (which had to buy these too), that won't shred through super boosters to just give him one in Exchange doesn't deserve his business? That thinking is as faulty as his Ziran's dial.
Won: In-Betweener, Champion x2, Gardner x2, Runner, Collector, Grandmaster, Thanos .. x2. Don't worry, I gave one to a buddy. :] For freeeeeeee.

They don't have to open boosters, they couls offer him a new booster. He wasnt promised a Ziran the first time he opened one. And thats a better solution than nothing. At least he would have a legal figure.
