Hey, I have a few questions that I haven't been able to research the answer to, I think.
First, can you outwit a team ability? I've seen quoted (in other forums) pac's and rulebooks saying that outwit can be used to counter powers other than team abilities, but this wording is not used the current rules or pac, that I could find.
Second, is there are kind of bonus given to a character being attacked on elevated terrain from the below? Character is on the lip, character b is below, unobstructed LOF, no hindering, is there any difference between this shot and one where the characters are on the equal planes? A guy i used to play with, who also taught me the game, said that the elevated character gets +1 defence, because they're elevated, making the shot more difficult for the character on lower ground. I find no mention of this anywhere I've looked.
Last, can you mastermind any damage taken? Is unavoidable literally unavoidable? Can you mastermind a critical hit, as it is supposed to alway hit?
1- no, you can't outwit TA, you can outwit only powers or combat abilities (like sharpshooter, flying ability, carry ability, etc..), someone can (like the new warlock GG#32) but it's not the standard outwit
2- the defence modifier is given only by the hidden terrain\objects, elevated doesn't modify stats
3- you can mastermind every type of damage except the unavoidable (like mystics or critical miss)
1. Standard Outwit cannot be used to counter team abilities, but there are characters with special powers that do let them Outwit, and thus counter, team abilities, such as the new Adam Warlock, SI Yellowjacket and JL Time Trapper among others.
2. No. There is no bonus to defense for characters in clear elevated terrain.
3. Yes, unavoidable is literally unavoidable, so it can't be masterminded away. Critical hits modify damage dealt and Mastermind transfers damage dealt, so the Critical Hit does hit, but the damage bonus granted can still be transferred by Mastermind.

Kage is correct on all 3 items.
