While playing a game last night, me and my friend ran across this scenario. I had my Sentinal in my starting area and he came up to me with 2 figures. I made a capture attempt on one of the figures and got it. The question is, since I'm already in the starting area, when does the captured figure get taken off the board? The way we did it last night was that it went away on the next turn, that way to allow him a rescue attempt on his turn. Any help you guys can share would be appreciated. Thanks.
His turn:
He moves 2 figures adjacent to Sentinel.
Your turn:
you make a successful capture attempt one one figure.
His turn:
His other figure gets a chance to rescue.
Your turn:
You spend an action token, pushing the Sentinel to 'collect points'. His captured figuer is removed from the game. You collect double points.
His turn:
Cry and then attack with his last figure.
Your turn:
You make a successful capture roll, pushing the Sentinel once again.
His turn: He has no figures on the board, but is not out of the game because his last piece is technically still in the game.
Your turn:
You spend an action token, pushing the Sentinel to 'collect points'. His captured figure is removed from the game. You collect double points. You then do the Bull Dance, feeling the flow. Working it. Working it.
To release a character into your starting area to get the points, you give the Sentinal a Move action without moving him, and you can only release one character at a time. So, you would release them on you next turn, and, in your example, would push him too.
"A Sentinel may only be given one action per turn."
"Once a Sentinel has returned to its starting area with a captured character (the Sentinel’s entire base must be within the starting area), it may use a movement action to release one captured character."
You still have to wait till your next turn because releasing a captive from play is considered a move action.
Hope that helps!
Whenever someone asks me what I think the most dangerous animal is, i tell them it has to be a shark riding on an elephant, just eating and trampling everything in sight.
Wow. Basing a Sentinel that is in its starting area. That takes a lot of cajones. It is probably also Shin-goji's dream scenario... the capture buffet coming to him!

In the FAQ, the 6th notation for Sentinels reads:
Quote
A captured figure is not considered to be KOd (do not assign the captured figure's point value to the player controlling the Sentinel) until released in the Sentinel's starting area. Once released, the captured figure is then considered effectively KOd, and the Sentinel's player receives double its point value (or triple if the captured figure is an arch-enemy). Beacuse a captured figure is "no longer considered to be on the map and is out of the game unless rescued by a teammate," the owning player does not receive vistory poiints for figures that remain captured at the end of the game.
To me, that means that no one scores points for a figure captured when the game is over. And, since most games are over when a player no longer has figures in play, capturing the opponents last figure would end the game without scoring actually points for the just captured figure.
I'm glad this has been cleared up. I played Sinestro (who has a similar capture ability) in a 700 pt DC game and played it like this. My opponent (who lost soundly) said after that game that since he never left the start base that I "auomatically" removed the Clix from the game. I'm glad he was wrong. That would have been a guilty victory.

You know, I'm not entirely sure about this. I mean.. in a timed game, that statement there makes perfect sense.
I'd go with the scenario that PantherShade is paining out here. If you capture their last figure, then the game ends.. and you do not get the points for capturing.
