We're having so much fun with this game that Gargantua and I are running a parallel one where he gets to play Avengers and I'm the X-Men!
This will appear like a normal game, 8 figures on board each, 5K total, using our normal replacement rules. Where things differ is if an attack of 7 is rolled that attacking figure will automatically go into the Duel.
The Duel. If a figure rolls a 7 he may complete his turn or decide to pass on that attack and take the token from his duel attack (if he doesn't pass this figure will end this turn with two tokens, one for the initial attack in the main game, one for the duel. For this one turn alone the figure may have three tokens and is pushed accordingly). He then chooses a character within 25 points of his cost (or two within that cost) and that character and the opposing one(s) go to a separate map and complete the duel until a victor emerges. Once that occurs they return to the starting area of the original map on the same click with the same number of tokens.
Once a duel is initiated we place the aggressor on the middle rows of the map and roll a 6 sided die and subtract 2. That is the number of squares apart the figures must be.
Due to the number of characters who are both Avengers and X-Men we're adding another twist called Traitor. To start Beast and Namor will be Avengers; Storm and Wolverine are X-Men. They are take a Traitor token every turn. After three tokens they roll a 12 sided die. A roll of 1-4 nothing occurs, 5-8 free attack on their closest opponent, 9-12 free attack on the closest ally of their current team (moving to an adjacent square freely in both cases). The next turn they return to their respective allegiance.
And so it begins...

"Alright Professor," Angel says swooping down to his teammates as he communicates with Angel telepathically, "Strike Force one is ready to go!".
"Strike Force One? I do not like this," Sunfire says.
"Makes sense," Mystique says practically, "Xavier needs an initial team to feel out these Avengers while he preps Cyclops, Phoenix, Wolverine...the big guns for an all-out war. We're the grunts."
"That's a cold analysis, Raven," Forge says.
"Tell me I'm wrong," she says.
"Gambit's been in worse situations, chere, de Avengers don' know what dey dere about to face, non?" Gambit says.
"That does not compute. My records show the Avengers have fought alongside the X-Men many times. We even share some similar members: Sub-Mariner, Wolverine and the Beast for example."
"It's a figure o' speech, Danger, Xavier didn't program you wit' a sense of humor, I take it," Gambit says, "Never mind. You don' need to answer dat."
"So then who's our fearless leader?" Blink asks.
"I'll do it," Angel says.
"Or not," Mystique says.
"I've lead X-Factor before, I'd be glad to," Forge says.
"And I've been with you all the way when you did," Mystique says, "Plus I've lead the Brotherhood."
"Just what you want on your resume here," says Cannonball, "Let's leave it to a vote. Angel, Forge or Mystique. Who wants Angel?" Sam asks as the voting begins.
Falcon (CA-Protected) 79
Rick Jones 48
Hawkeye (CW-LMD) 98
Ant-Man and the Wasp (Armor Piercing) 168
Captain America (AVM01-Contingency Plan) 75
V Songbird (Endurance) 79
The Armored Avenger(Repulsor Shield) 200
Two-Gun Kid (Double-Time) 50
Characters Used: Ant-Man, Captain America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Rick Jones, Songbird, Two-Gun Kid, Wasp - 797
"But the X-Men, they're heroes," the Wasp pointed out.
"I don't doubt that they mean well," Captain America said, "but they have their own agenda. Xavier's an idealist, but that won't stop them using the ends to justify the means."
"And you can't tell me that Mystique's a hero in any sense of the word," Iron Man said.
"People can change," Songbird volunteered. She knew that better than anyone.
"Mystique? I don't think so," Hawkeye said.
"I don't know what this all is about, but I respect the Captain here. If he says fighting these X-Men is the right thing to do, I reckon I'm behind him."
"Same with me," the Falcon said. "Cap's never steered me wrong."
"Thanks, Sam, Matt," Captain America said.
"So what are we waiting for?" Rick asked.
"You should hang back, Rick. You don't have powers like the rest of us," Ant-Man advised him.
"That old song again?" Rick asked. "We'll just see about that."
I'm going to suggest we use only the A-X silver/gray areas. Also going to suggest that we allow two starting areas each. So choose from H-Q 1, 2 , H-Q23,24, AB8-17 and WX8-17.
As with any 5K games I'll suggest we replace objects mid-way through at 2500. So place 6 objects.
And so we're on the same page, the yellow lines are walls. THe middle area must be the Danger Room or something.
If I'm misinterpreting what you wanted to do with the map let me know. But I think what's below is what you intended.
Falcon (CA-Protected) P1/P2
Rick Jones W8
Hawkeye (CW-LMD) I2
Ant-Man and the Wasp (Armor Piercing) W9
Captain America (AVM01-Contingency Plan) Q2
V Songbird (Endurance) O1
The Armored Avenger(Repulsor Shield) X8
Two-Gun Kid (Double-Time) X9

LO G7, J12, M10
Characters Used: Ant-Man, Captain America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Rick Jones, Songbird, Two-Gun Kid, Wasp - 797
I don't like the way the opening to the middle on the right side of the map is so close to you. I think I need to make my own. Armored Avenger RS to U9, taxis Ant-Man, Wasp and Two-Gun. U10 for the former, V9 for the latter. Blasts the wall in S/T10
Rick to T11
Falcon taxis Cap. O/P9 for Falcon. P8 for Cap.
Falcon (CA-Protected) @ O9/P9
Rick Jones @ T11
Hawkeye (CW-LMD) @ E6
Ant-Man and the Wasp (Armor Piercing) U10
Captain America (AVM01-Contingency Plan) P8
V Songbird (Endurance) O1
The Armored Avenger(Repulsor Shield) @ U9

Characters Used: Ant-Man, Captain America, Falcon, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Rick Jones, Songbird, Two-Gun Kid, Wasp - 797
"Not much. They've got an entrance to the X-Men's Danger Room off to my left. I don't see anything, but I don't trust it either. I think I'm going to do that element of surprise thing."
"Check," Captain America agreed. "Sounds good. Hawkeye, Falcon and I will draw their attention. Think you can get around and flank them?"
"Aw Cap, it hurts my feelings that you even need to ask," Hawkeye said, slipping off around a corner.
"You okay acting as decoy?" Cap asked Falcon.
"What do you think, I'm just going to let them shoot me? They can shoot at me, doesn't mean they're going to hit me."
"Good man," Captain America said. "Then let's move out."
Probably suicidal but I see a couple possible attacks here.
Mystique boosts Sam's av to 11.
Cannonball snags Danger and does the move and attack thing going to E7, she's F7 and attacking Hawkeye. Needs 7 + 2, rolls 4. Danger makes it 7. Cannonball gains impervious and already we have our first duel. It's really between Hawk & Cap and I figure might as well stick with Hawkeye.
Sunfire taxis Blink to I19, he's J19 and I will stop there.
Starting with the airbase map I roll for placement: 1. That puts them adjacent to each other, not ideal for Cannonball. I'll place Hawkeye in row 15 next to the LO and Sam in 16. Can Sam break away? 5. Moves to row 17 and back and attacks Hawk. Needs 7, rolls 8 ( 2 4s). That's 2 to Hawk and kb to row 13, which puts him in a better situation. Sam gains impervious.
"You're kidding me, right? Aren't you one of those New Mutants?" Hawkeye asks, "You're a student."
"Ah am. But ah'm also an X-Man. And ah let you know what ah'm gonna do just to be nice and respectful."
"Respect this!" Hawkeye says as he unleashes an electrical shock arrow on him. Cannonball meets it head on, "Ah'm invulnerable when ah blast." He then lunges for Hawkeye and smacks him with a left hook. Hawkeye is sent back several feet.
Already you've pulled Hawkeye out into a duel and hit him. Razzin' frazzin'.
Ant-Man Wasp to U17
Rick to T17

----------------------
I guess Hawkeye will push on Cannonball. Cannonball will push if I don't, since he's got Willpower. AV11 on DV17. Gets 7. Impervious is 1. 2 to Cannonball.

"Thanks for mentioning that you were invulnerable when you were blasting," Hawkeye said. "That tell me it's okay to use excessive force." He released an arrow that exploded with enough force that it could have hurt the Hulk. It had a similar effect on the young mutant.
