So this new Atrocitus is coming out, and gives everyone within 5 squares Battle Fury.. Lets say I am playing against one, and I am carrying someone while Charging or HSS or whatever, once I enter that range of 5 do I drop my carried friendly because he gains Battle Fury? Or do I drop him at the end of the move?
I would think you would drop him immediately in the square that the carrier entered as long as it is legal, if not, then the next legal square along the path taken...

NEVERENDING RAGE: Attrocitus and characters within 5 squares possess Battle Fury.
Quote
Battle Fury: This character ignores Shape Change, can't make ranged combat attacks, can't be targeted by Mind Control or Incapacitate, and can't be carried.
Quote
Carry: When moving as a result of being given an action, this character can carry one friendly character. When this ability is used, modify this character’s speed value by –2 until the end of the action. Only characters with a combination of the following symbols can be carried: .
If a character has any other symbols or is carrying an object it cannot be carried. To be carried, the friendly character must be adjacent to this character at the beginning of this character’s action. When this character ends its movement for the action, the carried character must be placed in a square adjacent to this character at the same elevation. While being carried, a carried character is not adjacent to any character nor can it draw a line of fire until placed at the end of this character’s movement for the action. A carried character can’t be given an action (other than a free action) until the beginning of the next turn.

I would say that nothing happens. Two entries from the PG:
From Carry entry - Characters being carried are not considered to be on the map for any game effect.
From Battle Map Removal entry - Characters that are removed from the battle map are not affected by game effects that characters on the battle map use (unless it says otherwise).
So they would NOT get battle fury while being carried.
well, my thinking (which is probably wrong) is that the character is "off the board" until dropped. so in a way he couldn't be GIVEN Battle Fury yet? (this is the first instance of something like this right?)
As long as they began the action outside of the radius, I'd say you could charge in... but once inside the radius, he'd be SOL?
Contrary to popular belief, I do know what I'm doing

Nah, the Aerial Baffler and the Separation Field Generator had similar effects in that they caused the ability to carry/be carried to go away.
Quote
Aerial Baffler: Any character with the or speed mode that is 3 or fewer squares from this object gains Earthbound. Any character is carries takes no damage and is placed in the nearest square it can occupy.
Quote
Separation Field Generator: A character carrying an object or a character immediately drops it into an adjacent square when 3 or fewer squares from this object. The carrying character may continue its move.
Though both of those specify what happens the the Carried character.
I would say that the Carried figure is in limbo and does't gain Battle Fury until the movement ends and they're placed on the map again.
Vulture: I'll drop you from the sky and watch you drop like a rag doll! Spider-Man: And this'll be when? After Ock rips me limb from limb? Or after Venom eats my brains? Oh, I almost forgot; he also has dibs on my spleen...
People with Battle Fury can still carry others, so Atrocitus' trait would not change anything about what the carrier is doing. All it would do is potentially change what the figure being carried has going on.
However, I agree with the above assessments. The carried figure is off the map and would not gain battle fury until they are placed after the movement.
Venue: The Gaming Goat in Elgin, IL. Find us in the WizKids event system.
What about whichever unit is carrying, though?
If it gains Battle Fury once it's close enough to Atrocitus, would it drop the carried character automatically and then get to keep moving?

Characters with Battle Fury are able to carry figures. They just can't be carried.

But, but...correct me if I'm wrong here, but who could he possibly carry, so long as his power is active? Anyone near enough to carry would have battle fury, right?

I wasn't answering anything about a specific character.
There was a sticky about how we don't answer too much about unreleased characters. It doesn't seem to be there now.

In a previous discussion, it was ruled that a check needs to be made whenever the conditions change. This check may need to be made during an action, if needed. If a character with battle fury cannot be carried, then a character who is carrying a character with battle fury would create an illegal action. I would think this would be ruled one of 2 ways.
1) A character who is carrying another character cannot move within 5 squares of Atrocitus; or
2) The character would be dropped at the edge, outside the 5 square perimeter, since they canot be carried into that area.
I would lean towards the first, since it would be like #202 Hulk, where he cannot charge his full movement while holding an object. I cannot then say I am going to charge the full movement, therefore the object is dropped. If an action would cause an illegal situation, the action cannot be made.
