Am I correct to say that Dr. Strange (gg 195pt) could have at least one attack on every single turn if he had enough astral's? 2 attacks first round, 2 attacks second round (with a push), and an attack on the 3rd round... repeat.
Is this wrong? It sounds awesome.
And... if Strange is based can he still make a ranged attack through an astral thus using PPB?
This all worked on me today and I got crushed. Chose indoor map and wow, I was schooled.

No, you're not correct. None of his powers let him make multiple attacks per turn, or let him attack when he's pushed. If it was played like that, no wonder he seemed overpowered.

Hate to break it to you, but Dr. Strange is still given a token when he attacks. The free action only establishes that he CAN attack that character adjacent to an Astral Dr. Strange. He still has to be given an action because it says "when making a ranged combat action."
At least, as far as I know this is the case. I could be wrong. Sorry again, guy got away with something nasty against you, though.

Reason: Edit - I'm right! But totally slow behind an actual authority.
ASTRAL FORM: Give Dr. Strange a power action. Place a GG #014a or GG #014b Astral Dr. Strange from outside of the game in an adjacent square.
DEFENDERS PORTAL: Characters possessing the Defenders keyword or team ability who begin an action adjacent to Dr. Strange can use Phasing/Teleport but halve their speed value that action.
CONCENTRATE ON ONE PROJECTION: Give Dr. Strange a free action and choose an opposing character adjacent to a friendly Astral Dr. Strange. This turn, Dr. Strange can target that character regardless of range, squares, or line of fire when making a ranged combat attack or using Outwit or Perplex.
The "concentrate power" does not give a free attack it just lets you attack though a Astral DR strange(basicly).
Dr strange still gets a token after every non free action.
My guess is that someone misinterpreted this power:

as "give Dr. Strange a free action to make a ranged combat attack."
That's not what it does at all.
What the free action does is let you choose an opposing character to be affected by the rest of the power. That's it. The free action does not give you any attacks in and of itself.
The rest of the power tells you that you can "target that character regardless of range, squares, or line of fire when making a ranged combat attack or using Outwit or Perplex."
Again, it doesn't grant you any extra attacks. It just let you do other stuff when making a ranged combat attack or using Outwit or Perplex.

Keep in mind he does not make an attack through the Astral: this is not the Professor X power. What it allows is potentially more powerful: he can choose an opposing figure that at the time of the choice is adjacent to an Astral. He can, at any time that turn, target that figure with a Ranged attack, Outwit and/or Perplex regardless of where the opposing figure or the Astral are at that time. No one needs LOF, range or anything else once the selection is made.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
“No matter how subtle the wizard, a knife between the shoulder blades will seriously cramp his style.”
I'm still unsure what the 'free action' is. Is it targeting before making an attack? I figured Strange's power made if more like a Ziran or Galactus's multi attack.
I also hafta flag the title of this thread, because it's become my new crusade to keep me busy until The Hobbit comes out:
He is unquestionably "Meta" because you're asking this question. Taking about the game, and what figures are good or not good IS the definition of Meta in this context.
We are the Metagame.
Well, as long as you're playing correctly, at least.

Thanks for the heads up.
The free action does nothing more than set the condition that Dr. Strange can later target that chosen figure.

Think of the free action as Dr Strange having the Astral reach over to an adjacent opposing figure and place a metaphysical "targeting beacon" on them. Now Strange can "see" them, for purposes of outwit, Perplex or Ranged Combat, no matter where they are.

i think i saw my judge/venue rule that strange couldn't make a ranged attack from an astral, becasue the astral was based....
but looking at how it's worded, that's exactly what was supposed to happen. I believe the judge was thinking strange would shoot form the astral like prof. x does and thought since the astral was based it couldn't make a ranged attack (although i thought prof. x was still allowed ranged attacks).
i dont know if that player lost that game, but i know not being able to make ranged attacks through the astral was a bad ruling.

FYI: You are correct that Professor X can shoot through based figures. (IE, if Cyclops is based by Magneto, Professor X can shoot Magneto by drawing LoF and range from Cyclops.)

The judge blew the call. They should be banned from Heroclix until they have completed the Professor X remedial training course.
