We are getting closer to the middle of the season and the All Star Break.
Predictions for the All Star Teams this year and who seem to be the best candidates for Cy Young, MVP and Rookie of the Year.
For me All Star wise it looks like my Rangers will have the most All Stars. I mean anyone in the lineup could make it but right now it appears at least 5 will.
So far the Cy Young race is shaping up to be guys I would never have considered elite pitchers. In the N.L. R.A. Dickey seems to be the man right now. If he continues his pace he should run away with it.
In the AL as much as I would like to say differently it seems to be C.J Wilson. I still think he fades late and if LA makes the playoffs he will disappear but for regular season pitching he gives ya innings and a good ERA and wins.
For MVP for AL its Josh Hamilton to me. The guy is top 3 in every major offensive cattegory and has a real shot at the Triple Crown this year.
in the NL Id have to go with Carlos Gonzalez for Colorado.
Rookie of the Year is a tighter race than any of the others to me. There is a tight race I think between Mike Trout, Robbie Ross, and Yu Darvish. Darvish has faded a bit but Id imagine him coming back with a few more starts. When he is on he has been pretty dominate with his stuff.
The NL probably Kirk Nieuwenhuis or Wade Miley. Though Id see the Nats having something to say about it by the end of the year with having Bryce Harper but ultimately Kirk and Wade have been biggern impacts for their teams than I think Bryce has been for the Nats.
So far this year has had its share of suprises and special moments for sure.
Think the case could be made for 5 Reds on the All-Star team, but 3 is more realistic, possibly 4.
MVP Hambone not sure if this is even an argument, he could probably just coast from this point on NL Would be Votto for me especially since most of his production has been in the last few months, plus I'm a Homer.
Cy Young
NL RA is strong atm, but I still don't trust a Knuckleballer as a dominant pitcher, I think it will be great if he wins but I think the novelty of the pitch is contributing to some of his success, which could wear off in the 2nd half. Matt Cain and Cueto are both strong candidates if they maintain their form.
In the AL No one has really stands out to me as a front runner, there's about 10 guys all around the top, that cases could be made for with varying degrees of success.
The Rookie Of The Year to me is always decided in the second half once teams get a 2nd chance at the hot ones, and once the cold ones get accustomed to MLB play, so I won't bother prognosticating them.
