Quick question about ignoring damage. I am assuming that this is different than "reducing" damage, but I'm not sure of the exact rules interactions. I would quote the specific power but I don't have the card in front of me and the units section is blocked where I am, but the example that came up is the Chase Thanos (what else) and his special power that ignores damage from non-adjacent enemies. Would this include an enemy with psychic blast/penetrating? My understanding was that penetrating damage only worked against powers that "reduce," but I want to make sure I've got it right (or wrong).
STRONGEST OF ALL ROCK TROLLS: Damage dealt to Ulik is reduced to 1. This power cannot be countered or ignored.
This power reduces, so P/PB and EW go right through
LAYERS OF EXTRA FAT: Blob ignores all but 1 damage dealt to him.
This power ignores, so reduction doesn't happen
Interestingly, the 2012 rulebook says "If multiple game effects would allow for damage dealt to a character to be reduced or ignored, only one game effect can activate, to be decided by the character’s controlling player."
So if you had a damage ignorer (i.e. Blob) and a damage reducer from another effect (feat, item) you have to choose to either ignore OR reduce
Thanks for both of your responses, that helps quite a bit.
For further clarity, especially in light of those additional Special Powers referenced, I guess one thing that I looked for in the rulebook but couldn't find in an attempt to answer this question originally is what the exact definition of "penetrating" damage is. I found that the Psychic Blast/Penetrating power pointed me to it, likewise Exploit Weakness, but I didn't find that definition itself.
