For those of you who don't know, I have run venue in south Florida where a group of friends come in and play. I have no problem with any of them, but sometimes they tick me off by asking some off the wall questions. Usually the question is trying to find an extra boost in a power, twist the wording around or find a Backdoor way in (hence "the Backdoor Gang"). If the question is easily answered or I tell them I'll get back to them, the response is always the same. "I want to see it in writing". Hence, I'm writing this.
Question 1: Can the Gauntlet be outwitted in ANY way, shape or form?
Question 2: Per the new rules, can phasing and leap/climb still ignore water terrain for movement purposes?
Question 3: Salvatore Maroni white power called: I GOT PEOPLE EVERYWHERE. Does it really ignore ALL terrain for mind control even if he's not targeting a Gotham Underworld keyword?
Question 4: PLUS, can that SAME power target friendly characters?
Question 5: For Batman 001, his power reads: SONAR SURVEILLANCE: The Dark Knight can use the Sharpshooter ability. He can also use Outwit but the target character must be within 6 squares and does not need to be within line of fire. Does that mean he can use Outwit normally also?
Any help with any of these would be appreciated. Thanks,
Sheryl
1) No, but the Outsiders TA and some characters SPs can negate the bonus to stats that the special powers on the Gauntlet provide.
2) Yes, Water Terrain is treated as Hindering Terrain for movement purposes. So a power that ignores hindering terrain for movement purposes would ignore water terrain as such.
3) Yes, the only thing Gotham Underworld modifies is the attack by 2, it has nothing to do with the terrain modification.
4) No, the power does not say he can target friendlies so he cannot target friendlies. Special powers that grant the use of a normal power modify that power in only as much as the power description says. He may use mind control, and mind control is not allowed to target friendlies. It would have to have a clause like GG Mole Man's Mind Control to allow it to target friendlies.
5) No, the SP provides him with a use of outwit that does not need line of fire. It does not provide for an additional use of outwit.

The best thing I've come up with are some BFCs like Damage Control and Malfunction. Remove the gems and lessen or nullify the benefits of the Gauntlet.

Of course...water terrain is hindering for movement purposes, so anything that is moving and ignores hindering ignores water.

Please quote these things when you ask about them.
"I Got People Everywhere: Salvatore Maroni can use Mind Control as if he had a range of 8. When he does, he ignores the effects of characters and terrain on line of fire and if his target has the Gotham Underworld keyword, modifies Salvatore Maroni's attack value by +2."
Yeah, the target can be any opposing figure regardless of an otherwise blocked/hindered LoF.

Question 4: PLUS, can that SAME power target friendly characters?
No. Nothing in it overrides the normal attack restrictions.

Nope. The also is saying that this special Outwit is in addition to the Sharpshooter.

Just a follow up question based on this answer Harpua. But how would Damage Control or Malfunction remove the gems or the Infinity Gauntlet when they are not on the map?

They may not be on the map, but they are certainly in the game.

Thanks for the clarification, Quebbster. After looking it up, I saw there was a rule that BFCs only affect characters on the map, but couldn't find a similar rule for BFCs and objects.
The Gauntlet is a resource dial. The Gems on it are objects though.
That doesn't make sense though...
If the 6 gems that are attached to the Gauntlet are considered objects, then where is the line that says I'm allowed to have 9 objects on my force?
The gauntlet with its 6 gems has to be written down on the sheet for your force. In fact the gauntlet says I cannot have any other special objects except the gauntlet.
Is there an errata that says the gems are objects and do not count towards my object total if attached to the gauntlet?

The Gauntlet tells you to assign Gems (and, in fact, specifically says you must use at least one). No errata is necessary.
