Can anyone please clarify some things about Critical Hit for me?
When do you take the click of damage? Before or after you start adding the regular damage? Like say what if 3 damage is delivered and after 2 spaces the target hits blocking terrain? How much damage is received, 5?
What if the same as above happened but the target has Invulnerability? How much damage is taken then, 3? Less?
If I roll a Critical Hit for Incapacitate (and no action marker is on the target) and the target has Toughness does the target take damage for a Critical Hit?
Again, same as above but this time the target has 1 marker and Incapaicitate is being used to cause push damage. How much damage is taken now with Critical Hit? 0, 1, 2? If damage is taken then knockback still occurs? If knockback occurs and the target hits blocking terrain too, then what's the damage, if any?
I actually have 1 more question that has to do with movement. When using an Outdoor Map and a flyer is moving onto a rooftop (not using the stairs or ladder), does it cost 1, or 2 movement points to reach the building top?
A
------
BCD
So if the row of -'s represent the line of blocking terrain that's the side of a building, and squares A, B, C, and D are all adjacent, but B, C, and D are at a different terrain level than A. How many moves for A to reach B, C, or D? 1 or 2?
Thanks to anyone who has the time and have a Happy Easter all
How much if hit terrain?: it takes 5 clicks of damage
With invulnerabity?: it takes 3 clicks of damage
Incapacitate: Yes it takes damage, if it has one action token it takes 2 clicks, plus if it hits terrain after KB it takes 3 clicks and if he falls from a rooftop he takes 4 clicks
The extra damage from a critical hit is not a separate source of damage, merely an additional click. The rulebook's mention that the damage is delivered immediately confirms that it is delivered at the same time as the rest of the damage from that attack.
If in your first example the figure's damage value was 2, and then he rolled a critical hit---he would take a total of 4 damage after receiving his 1 click from knockback. The 3 damage carries him into the wall, where a 4th is then delivered. If he had Invulnerability, then the original damage would be reduced by 2, leaving a total of 1 click of pre-knockback damage. He would therefore only be knocked back one square, not even hitting the wall and taking no additional damage. That one click would be his total damage.
In the first Incapacitate situation---the damage of the attack is increased to 1, which Toughness then reduces down to 0. The figure would receive his action token but no net clicks of damage. The critical hit means that the attack is automatically successful, but does not bypass damage-reduction or attack-dodging superpowers.
In the first Incapacitate situation---the attack damage is treated exactly the same. The one click of critical hit damage is reduced to 0 by Toughness. However, push damage may never be reduced by Toughness, and so he would take one click due to the token. A total of one click. Keep in mind, though, that this damage is not considered to be caused by the opponent. It is purely pushing damage, meaning that it still is not reducable, as was said above; it can be prevented by Willpower, it itself won't activate the Mystics ability, it does not contribute to knockback, and so on.
If the figure in that example did not have Toughness, then the critical hit damage would go through and knock him back 1 square, but the push damage would not. If that 1 square caused him to hit a wall, then he would take his additional click normally.
And impervious is correct about the movement. Flyers may move freely between elevated and non-elevated terrain.
How about someone who have SuperSenses? If I hit a 6+6 as critical hit...and the opponent's ......how about...T.O.Morrow.....he has a supersense and the person throws a 5 - meaning that his SuperSense is achieved....but no damage at all? or what...
Okay....let's see Robin with ranged combat and has 2 damage worth of it...he shoots at T.O.Morrow and he makes it with 6+6 and T.O. Morrow has a Super Sense on his click so rolls 5 and he's saved by avoiding 2 damages. But what about 6+6's extra damage? is it applied to it or NOTHING AT ALL?
If the Super Senses roll is made, then the attack missed and T.O. Morrow takes no damage whatsoever. The critical hit means that your roll was high enough to hit, no matter what numerical value was actually needed, but it does not bypass defensive powers.
