I bought a galactic guardians super booster a few days back, and i got a galactus. I have been looking into rules for colossal characters and i was left with questions... the first of which is, if my character's base is 6x3 and doesn't fit in the starting zone, does that mean I cannot play him on that map? And if he takes up the entire starting zone, does that mean I cannot field a herald with him? Next question is if a giant character has the ability that allows him to close combat a character 2 spaces away, why can't a colossal character do the same? Possibly with an even greater reach? This makes no sense to me... that a smaller character can reach farther away than someone who is bigger than him, with longer arms... another question I had, had to do with his white abilities, the powers say they are usable with certain dials, I.e. the 900 dial and/or 600 dial, and another with the 300 point dial. It makes sense to me that if I pay 1200, 1500, or 900 dial and begin with the 900 dial, I can use the 900 dial power, this seems self evident. The actual question is, when he gets to his 300 dial, does he get to use the 300 dial power instead, or does he only have that power if he STARTS on the 300 dial. Keeping in mind that the 300 dial power is a slightly lesser version of a 600/900 dial power, but is essentially the same power.

If either player's force doesn't fit in the starting area, both player's starting areas expand out towards the center until they will fit. If that still won't let a multiase figure fit because of terrain, they can treat all squares in the starting area as clear grounded terrain for placement at the beginning of the game. Once they move away, it reverts to its normal type.

Short answer--because that's what the rules say.
Slightly longer answer--colossal figures with 2x2 or 3x6 bases have more adjacent squares to them than single base figures, so they can already make close combat attacks against more characters than single base giants.
If you really MUST have the giant reach abiltiy on a colossal figure, though, pick up a Frost Warrior from GSX.

You only use the abilities indicated for the dial you're currently on. So if you go from the 600 point dial to the 300 points dial, you switch from the 600 point abilities to the 300 point abilities.
Two other pieces of advice: there's a rules forum that's a better place for posting these questions than general discussion.
And breaking your post up into paragraphs makes it a LOT easier to read.

thanks a lot guys! You answered all my questions and then some! The rules i have dont mention some of these things. Perhaps they are outdated or incomplete? I will attempt to correct my lack of paragraphs and use the correct forum in the future. I was uncertain which forum would be the most appropriate.
