At the Xplosion Marquee, I attacked my opponent's Taskmaster and successfully scored a hit. He declared that he was going to use Taskmaster's Mastermind ability to transfer the damage to Destiny, and then use Destiny's Super Senses to avoid the attack. I told him that wasn't legal, and he obviously disagreed, so we decided to seek the opinion of the judge. After a moment of consideration, the judge said it was legal and allowed the move. Not one to argue with the judge, I bit my tongue and continued the match. I ended up losing because my opening game strategy was targeting Taskmaster, who then, because of this combo, became impossible to hit..
Personally, I think the judge was wrong. What do you guys think? The Mastermind ability states that "when this character is the target of a successful attack (either close or ranged combat), all the damage it would normally receive from the attack can be inflicted instead on any friendly character with a lower point value in an adjacent square." And Super Senses states "when this character is successfully hit by a ranged or close combat attack, roll 1 six-sided die. On a result of 5 or 6, the attack misses this character instead." My logic is that the damage being applied by Mastermind is neither a result of successful close combat or ranged combat attack against the character with Super Senses, and therefore, it should not apply. Mastermind simply relocates the damage, it doesn't relocate the attack. If it did, then you would also have to take into consideration the defense rating of the character chosen to recieve the damage.
Well, I don't see the point of discussion.
The rule is clear enough. Destiny was not the target of a close or ranged combat action, so she would haven't been able to use her super senses.
Any one can be judge?
What? An Infinity Challenge set without ADAM WARLOCK????
Who will stop Thanos then?
Master Mind has to be targeted by an attack. So Splash Damage, Pulsewave, and Poison cant be Masterminded.
You cant use Super Sense on Poison, Pulsewave (if there's more then one target), and Master Minded Damage becuase YOu are not attack. Those you jsut take the damage.
Right, damage from Mastermind is considered damage from a superpower, not damage from an attack. Destiny could not try to dodge it.
The only correction is that Super Senses can be used against Pulse Wave, no matter how many figures there are. It doesn't target after the first affected figure, but it's still an attack.
