As I have mentioned on occasion, one of my jobs is at a game/comic store. A good-sized chunk of the local comics and gaming community are at least passingly familiar with our store and many are regulars. In addition to readers and fans, these regulars also include hopeful and prospective comic book artists. One of these, Colton Worley, has attained some success. He is the artist on Dynamite's revival of the Spider, the old-school pulp hero. David Liss is the writer and he has set Dynamite's Spider in modern times.
Colton Worley uses a photorealistic art style, with heavy accent on photo references. He takes pictures and uses them as models for his art. He even goes so far as to have people pose in pictures he uses for specific panels.
As I was leaving our Heroclix game tonight, he was hanging around the store, waiting for one of his friends to show up. He was taking the pictures next door and had another guy waiting on him and impending deadlines from Dynamite. Since friend #1 didn't show up, he asked me if I'd do it. Clearly, he was desperate. Even fictional scumbag criminal politicians deserve better-looking models, but Colton looked like he was in deperate straits. How could I not help him out?
So, 45 minutes and several bizarre poses later, I am told that I will have my likelihood appear in the Spider #6. Of course, he said he would have to add more hair, because this politician isn't supposed to be bald.
Now I will get to see what I would look like with a toupee.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
Awesome! I have a friend who is related to Pete & Rebecca Woods. Pete used him on a cover of a Superman comic or a Legion comic, I can't remember which.
1/6th of the Brothers Prob. '19-'20 Season: 15-13(8 events) 2 wins, 2nd XDPS PR 9-7, 7th SOC
Well, now I've got an excuse to pick up the issue. This is the Dynamite Entertainment series, right?

Is this recent? The only Legion I see Woods associated with is the new 52 Legion Lost series.

It came out. I'm not so sure how much it looks like me, though. I think my most distinctive physical feature is that I am bald. Since I was the back-up model for this character and the first guy had hair and a goatee in pages that were already completed, those things had to be imposed onto the pages I modeled for. Everybody I point it out to says it is still recognizable as me, so they are probably better judges.
If anyone is interested, the poses I recall standing for are on pages 16, 17, and especially page 21. I am the politician who is working in the soup kitchen that gets punished by the Spider.
Colton Worley often comes into the store with a lot of the others who more regularly pose for his pages and they are very recognizable.
It was a fun experience and I am glad I got to do it.
