"...so between the three of us, we stopped the attack before they could take anything valuable, but we didn't get any new clues as to what they were doing there."
"Don't be disappointed," Power Girl offered, flying at a slower velocity than usual to match Superboy's speed. "I just stopped a similar attack across town. I didn't even realize it was an Intergang hit, but the fact that it happened at the exact same time is too much of a coincidence for it to have just been a well-funded independent robbery."
"Maybe we should go back there?" Superboy asked, "try to squeeze some information out of them?"
"Maybe later, but we probably won't need to," Power Girl explained, holding up her cell phone by way of explanation. "I just got a call from our intrepid investigative team when I spotted you in the sky. Turns out the hits we stopped were only two of a half-dozen across the city. Batman thinks they're just decoy attacks, meant to spread the city's manpower."
"Batman said that?"
"So it's probably correct," Kara nodded. "The trick now is to try to figure out which attack to respond to in the time we have left. If we waste our time wrestling decoy robots, then the real Intergang team makes a clean getaway with their true objective."
"Then we gotta get there fast!" Superboy exclaimed, clenching his teeth down and concentrating on pushing himself through the air as fast as he could. Which, as impressive as it was, was still only a light jog for Power Girl to keep pace with.
"C'mere kid, allow me to give you a bit of a boost," Power Girl said, attempting not to sound condescending. Maneuvering her body above Conner's, Power Girl put her arms around his ribcage and hugged him close against her torso. He had no chance to object before both of their speeds increased drastically. "Normally I wouldn't step on your toes like this but we are fighting the clock here."
"Uhh, I don't mind..." Conner muttered, quite glad that Power Girl couldn't see his face right now. "Where are we headed?"
"According to Lois," Power Girl said, touching the bud in her ear with one finger, "There are four other attacks occurring. Two banks, one chemical warehouse that Batman and J'onn are intercepting, and one at a private medical clinic. A clinic that has shown up twice in Sage's surveillance files and is run by a doctor Donovan, whom Batman has listed as a 'person of interest' related to Cadmus. Can you guess which of those is Intergang's real target?"
The scene didn't look to bad at first, at least from the outside. The windows of the clinic were smashed and the pair of police squad cars that had been dispatched were left overturned on the street outside. Whatever weaponry Intergang had brought had been more than a match for the city's law enforcement, but hopefully they were not prepared to handle two near-Superman level superheroes. When they weren't fired upon, Power Girl and Superboy ventured inside and found the clinic empty; the civilians had presumably fled, and the Intergang invaders had disappeared. What they found instead, dead and half-cooked, was difficult to describe.
"It looks like a fish-gorilla...?" Conner attempted to identify it, gingerly picking up a limb with the tips of his fingers. Certainly not a naturally occuring species, though mutations like this had become disturbingly common in and around Metropolis since Superman's death. "What's it doing at a neighborhood clinic? Is this what Intergang came here to kill?"
"I think it came from in here," Power Girl said, standing at the threshold of a hidden passage in the clinic's rear wall that had been crudely exposed by a demolition charge. The yawning tunnel was dark, but it was clear that it sloped down into the earth and carried on for some distance. "I can hear activity coming from further down. I'm thinking Intergang hasn't left yet... they're in the middle of an extermination job."
"Maybe we should let them finish," Conner commented, regarding the hideous mutant's fanged face with distate. "Yuck."
"Come on," Power Girl waved him over, and the two descended into the secret underground facility. In short order it became apparent that the clinic aboveground was merely a front for a much more expansive hidden operation, the tip of the metaphorical iceberg. They passed through the first two floors before they encountered anything besides wrecked laboratories and dead scientists in blood-soaked lab coats. And the further they penetrated into the subterranean complex, the closer the sounds (now distinguishable as bursts of automatic fire, frantic shouts and screams, and animal roars) became. On the third sub-level human bodies in lab coats appeared alongside their dead test subjects, some looking less human than others.
"This is a bloodbath..." breathed Kara, a little taken aback by the brutality of the scene around her. Superboy had simply fallen silent, wearing a grim expression.
"Wait!" a voice cried out, making both heroes stop and turn abruptly. From under a small heap of debris and massacred lab animal, a human arm protruded. Pulling himself quickly free appeared none other than Jimmy Olsen. "Wait!" he called again "I'm not dead! You've got to get me out of here!"
"Jimmy?" Power Girl confirmed, only passingly acquainted with the plucky newsboy through Lois Lane. Superboy rushed to Jimmy's aid, clearing off the gory detritus he had been covered with. "Have you been down here all this time? How did you survive?"
"Long story," Jimmy rushed out, much relieved that his imprisonment may finally be at an end. He held up an alien-looking disc, smooth metal studded with protruding knobs and mysterious characters. "I've been stuck here in the monster pens, using this dial to transform myself into a whole mess of weird beasts to keep from being eaten. But the Cadmus scientists never realized I was really a human! Or maybe they did. I don't think it would have mattered to them if I was."
Seeing that his rescuers were still looking for more of an explanation, Jimmy went on. "I've seen humans in here, being led around and tested on. Well metahumans technically, but still people."
"Then we can't leave yet," Power Girl stated, mostly to Conner. "If any prisoners or scientists are still alive, we need to get down there to keep them from getting killed. And maybe we can get some answers too."
"We'll be back for you Jimmy. Stay safe and get to the surface," Kara told him, pointing in the direction they had come. "Superboy, you and I are gonna bust some heads and sort things out later!"

L18/O21:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Intergang troops! They’ve just finished slaughtering some scientists and they’re after our heroes, next. Turn 4:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Red goop begins spilling out the door, replacing E18 with goop terrain. On every turn after this one, expand the goop terrain one space in all directions (use a special marker to show the borders of the goop. Characters occupying goop terrain must roll 1d6 to move, getting stuck and halving their speed value for the turn on a result of 1 or 2, moving as normal on a result of 3 or 4 and bouncing off the goop, gaining leap/climb for the turn on a result of 5 or 6. Flying/leapclimbing/phasing characters do not ignore goop terrain.
Turn 8:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)

Turn 10:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
If not already approached, a group of Intergang soldiers exit the large lab on the bottom right. Place the 74 point Baron Strucker at M19 and a 30 point Hydra Officer (the one with ranged combat expert) at L19 and N19. These figures will be controlled by Jackofhearts, not the Cadmus player, and are hostile to all non Intergang figures.
Turn 12:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Reinforcements for Cadmus! The Cadmus player may place up to 100 points of figures with the word “Hulkbuster” in their name in any starting area but may not make an attack against any Metropolis figures until the following turn.

"Blah! Yuck! Ptff-pfft!" Kara yelps, swatting at the flapping mutant things and finishing her move in D7.
2) hearing Power Girl's surprise, Superboy grabs the nearest loose chunk of debris as a weapon and charges into the gloomy interior after her, flying by H7 to reveal...

"Better take these in case she's hurt," Conner thinks, his overprotective nature asserting itself. For some reason Power Girl was reminding him of Cir and her propensity for getting into messes. Superboy finishes his movement in D11.
