Need help, rebasing Heroclix to look like Star Wars Miniatures
Hey all. Just a quick statement and question.
So recently, I've gone crazy and have been pulling a LOT of Heroclix and Horrorclix sculpts off their original bases. Mostly extras, and generics that I had a bunch of.
I have rebased 80 of them on 25mm bases which I got on eBay, and I believe they are Games Workshop bases. However, they're not exactly what I wanted, but very close.
What I would like are round black 25mm bases which are EXACTLY like the bases used for WOTC Star Wars Miniatures, WOTCDungeons & Dragons Miniatures, and the Wizkids/NECA Freddy vs. Jason Forest of Fear game.
Does anyone know if anybody makes bases exactly like that?
So, just let me know if you have any info at all. I may also try getting into some of the other "themed" bases, although I really don't want to have to paint them, but I have seen some really neat round bases, so it's a possibility.
In addition, I have pulled off a bunch of more recent Heroclix sculpts with the crescent base on them. I'm trying to decide if I should leave the crescent bases as is, or glue them to the other round bases with the crescent and all.
As to WHY I'm doing this? I don't really know. I've been toying around with using these figures for other games, even silly stuff like Spider-Man Monopoly.
Also, I do think some of the sculpts look really nice when they're off the original Clix base. I haven't brought myself to rebasing my Aliens and Predators but I have thought about it SEVERAL times now.
I'll also post some photos so you can see my rebased sculpts and the difference in the bases I bought on eBay, and the bases on the Star Wars Miniatures and the Forest of Fear game. Thank you.
EDIT: See photos below in post #3.

You can see the difference in the bases in the first photo above in Post #3:
1. Star Wars Miniatures
2. Freddy vs Jason Forest of Fear
3. Horrorclix no tabs on feet on 25mm base (zombie cop)
4. Heroclix no tabs on feet on 25mm base (Kingpin)
5. Heroclix tabs on feet on 25mm base (Con Artist)
6. Heroclix crescent stand only (Lurtz)
7. Heroclix backwards crescent stand only (Halo guy)
The thing is, the bases I bought are sloped, I don't know if that's called scalloped or what, but I would like to find bases that are like the Star Wars and Forest of Fear games that are not sloped. Any help out there.
Also, yes, that is a Legacy Red Robin I cracked off the base. I am insane.

Yes sir, I've looked, but obviously not hard enough.
I can't even find a definitive thing about why people use "slotted" style bases for their miniatures, but I guess some come with a tab or something to put into the slot.
I need to do much more research, but luckily the stuff I'm doing is really easy.
Pop off the sculpt, super glue to new base, done.

Slotta bases are primarily used with Pewter gaming miniatures but not exclusive to. You can find them associated with Warmachine and Warhammer more often then not.
It seems that the bases you have (from the looks of them) are the Warhammer 25mm Slotted and Non-Slotted bases. You should be able to buy them in bulk from the main Games Workshop website, but you could look around for a better deal.
Here is a link with a crap ton of bases from their website. Notice that they have closed and open bases both square and circular. Now it seems that they don't sell them by the bag any more, but if you look around you may be able to find a few places that still have the bags of these bases before they were discontinued.
Hope this helps
EDIT: DERP, most of the listings have 10 bases per package. My bad. HERP...

Thank you, yes. I was assuming they were Games Workshop bases because of the GW, even though the eBay listing did not call them that.
I do like the bases, I just wish they weren't "sloped" like they are, so I will look at the GW site as well as Litko which was mentioned.
Thank you (and everyone else) for the help so far!

In some craft stores, you can get 1 inch wood disks. Some minature game players like these, as they are easy to pin and paint and terrain for the base sticks to it very well.
