Black Glove Demon is friendly to itself. Can it activate this power on its own? Also, if so, this power can be activated if one of the attacks in its use of Flurry is a miss, correct?

Assuming the text quoted is correct...
I'd say yes to both. He is friendly to himself, and there is no stipulation that it be "another" friendly or an "adjacent" friendly. So it should self-trigger. And it triggers from a miss: if you roll and you don't hit, that's a miss.
