I'm staying in this New Year's Eve and I'm poking around the house tonight. Being a little bored, I thought this might be a worthy thread.
Comic Book Resources, one of the bigger comics news websites, has posted, in several installments, their list of what they consider the top 100 comics of 2012. I am linking to their articles and wondering what you guys think of their list.
That link is to the top 10. On that same page can be found several links to get you to #s 100-75, 75-50, 49-25, and 24-11.
For those concerned, it appears that out of 100 comics listed, 24 of them (depending on what you think counts) were super-hero comics. Out of that number, 9 were set in the Marvel Universe and 7 in the DC Universe.
...now, if we can just get Professor Pyg confirmed.
I'm surprised Demon Knights didn't make the cut. That's an excellent DC title.
I kept up with Fables and Unwritten up until a few months ago due to budgeting cutbacks.
I think this list goes with that saying about opinions and buttholes, and overall it stinks, but there are a bunch of diamonds in this rough.
After a while, I thought they included sales factor into this list, because I don't see why Batman makes the top 4.
From a religious standpoint, I'm appalled that Punk Rock Jesus made the list, but I never took the time to read it, either. It's amazing that Muslims can kill a US ambassador for a movie made about Mohammed, and our president apologizes for it, and yet people are absolutely free to degrade Jesus all they want. I guess this falls under the "Politics" area of discussion, though.

For what it's worth, the comic doesn't really rip on Jesus Christ himself or his teachings, but actually on corporate-controlled media and religious fanatics. It rips on those folks pretty brutally.
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
Very few of the main characters in the comic actually believe the title character is Jesus returned, but enough of the wider culture (within the story) has been convinced he is to cause enormous cultural and political repurcussions.

After Ex Machina I don't think I'm quite ready to give Vaughan another shot. If I keep hearing nice things about Saga I might give it a read eventually, but I'm not in a rush.
As for the list, it doesn't look what I'd choose, but lists rarely do.
