Another game between flyingicarus and myself. This time forgetting about the the affairs of gods, galaxies and grand plans for conquest. We're playing cops and robbers. Gang wars. Street-level figures. Some superheroes and villains, sure, but those more concerned with stopping a mugger than stopping Galactus. It should feel like an issue of Batman or Spider-Man or Daredevil at their purest, you know, where they're not obligated to write the character into the lastest earth-shattering crossover event. When they're doing what they do best, fighting for the little guy.
Pretty standard 3000 point replacement game for us. The one difference is that while we usually play 8 figures at a time, with the option to use one of the slots for up to 3 of a kind of generics. In this case, three generic slots are built in. 10 figures, 7 named, 3 generics at any time. Named characters may be used only once. Generics may be used as often as we want, because there's never any end to the policemen, gunsels, and ninjas in comics.
Also no Feats to be used, though ATAs may be, as long as they're paid for normally.
"I still don't understand why we're working with these scumbags." Two uniformed police officers and a plainclothes detective stood outide of Spumoni's.
"They are the enemy we know, Dick" the plainclothes said. "There are suddenly new players on the scene that are strange to us. If they try to move in on Falcone's territory, there will be a gang war unlike any this city has ever seen. The commissioner wants to make sure that doesn't happen."
"They could at least be on time," Dick Grayson complained.
"Detective Jones," the other officer said, tugging at the plainclothes' sleeve and bringing his attention back to the job at hand.
"Well if it isn't our police escort," Salvatore Maroni laughed as the party emerged from the restaurant.
"Put a sock in it, Maroni," Grayson said, moving toward the man, but John Jones put his hand on the officer's arm, stopping him. As he did, another car pulled up, a limousine. A white cloaked figure got out. Immediately, the policemen's sidearms were out.
"Stand down officers," Carmine Falcone said. "This is our new associate. Calls himself Libra. He's on our side."
"Of course he is," Jones said, regarding the newcomer coldly. But then the limo's driver caught his eye. A quick telepathic probe confirmed his suspicion. The driver was Christopher Chance, nom du geurre The Human Target. "Interesting," Jones said to himself.
"Interesting," Nite Owl said to himself, regarding the scene through binoculars from a nearby rooftop. "I guess Ozymandias's intel was sopt on. There's something very strange going on in this town."
"There is something lovely about the night. Quiet and disturbing all at once," Mysterio notes.
A mysterious figure emerges from his shadows. "That's almost poetic. And coming from you, Mysterio, that is indeed disturbing."
"You are the X-Man, Psylocke," Yelena Belova says, "Natasha Romanova has told me much about you and your deadly skills."
"Interesting," she responds, "She has never mentioned you."
"She's also the Black Widow," Daredevil says, "Sort of. This is an odd mix of characters. X-Men, Russian spies, villains, the Hand....we even have Avengers and Fantastic Four."
"How did you know?" the Invisible Woman asks emerging from invisibility.
"That's part of Daredevil's mystique," Captain America says, "Now I'm not sure what we have here but everyone keep on guard. This might be a long night." Cap marches forward intent on speaking directly with his adversaries.
He's bombarded with gunfire and pulled away by Daredevil just in time. "Captain, I don't think this will be your typical Avengers type of caper," Daredevil says, "This fight belongs to the moon and the shadows. Tread carefully."
"Wise advice," Cap replies, "Since this is more up your alley perhaps you should lead us through."
I've looked at this map a couple times lately. It looks like it should be fun to play on. Note there are special rules on this one for the Orange Terrain:
Quote
Orange terrain are open graves. They are considered hindering terrain for movement purposes, and any line of sight drawn to a figure occupying an open grave is blocked.
Salvatore Maroni J2
Carmine Falcone K2 (Stealth)
Libra (The Society) K1
Dick Grayson F2 (Stealth)

Note that while I've added the generics to the figures used, it's just for tracking purposes. No reason I can't add more of them later.
Cap rolls for leadership. 4. This isn't usually an issue but in this game, with so many figures I forget how many moves per turn we're actually allowed.
Hand ninjas first.

Well usually it's 1 action for every 100 points of the build. I'd consider it like the other replacement games we do though, where we don't have an action limit. Leadership may still be used to remove a token from an adjacent figure though.
I'd been reluctant to choose this map because of all the hindering, but perhaps it's not the disadvantage I thought. It will allow us to get closer to each other without leaving us wide open. And once we're close, the bloodbath can begin.

"I'm afraid we mean business," Captain America says shining like a bright icon looking uncharacteristic in the haze and next to the stealthier opponents.
Leadership rolls: Carmine: 4, Libra 5. That's the one that mattered anyway. Libra takes the token off Human Target. Actually with his SP, Carmine can use it on Guido.
Wait. I have no Perplex any more, thanks to you. Getting the token off Human Target does me no good.
