I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
A mixed group of enjoyment in these songs. I could have swapped the top two, maybe moved Goose Creek up, but enjoyed the sampling! Thanks again, Captain!
1- J. Mascis- I really enjoyed this version. The world needs more Dinosaur Jr.
2- Smokie- What a nice surprise. Another group I don't know, but really enjoyed the song
3- Joseph Williams- I know its very "poppy", but I like the guitars. Pretty decent overall.
4- Artension- I don't know Artension, but assume from the sound of the solos, its a "hair" band of sorts. Some of these are better than others, but generally sound a bit formulaic to me. Decent song, very good voice. Glad to hear the offering.
5- Goose Creek Symphony- Nice song.
6- Jane Froman- Nice old song. Very nice voice.
7- The Rolling Stones- I don't really like it. Just doesn't rev up and do much.
8- Ike Quebec- Probably a generational thing, but don't really get into this sort of music.
1) The Rolling Stones - Excellent bluesy number and apparently one of the first rock songs to break the ten minute mark.
2) Goose Creek Symphony - Gotta start getting their stuff off iTunes.
3) Smokie - Yeah these guys were a pleasant surprise.
4) Ike Quebec - Sorry guys, I likes me some jazz - especially saxomophone jazz.
5) Jane Froman - Had several options for this. Somebody will probably admonish me for not going with Paul Robeson.
6) J. Mascis - OK. Haven't heard any Dinosaur Jr.
7) Joseph Williams - Too pop for me
8) Artension - Too 80s hair band ballad for me.

Rolling Stones – I’ve always been a big fan of early stoners songs. This is on my iPod but I wish it were on my London Years CD collection. Not as great as Little Red Rooster, but this is top notch.
J Mascis – Mark Knopfler, Keith Richards, Neil Young, Alvin Lee and now J Mascis. This may be the best song title for talented guitarists. Not one of my faves by him, but good enough to score better than the rest here.
Jane Froman – I love the timbre of her voice. She lays out an emotional tour de force for me. My surprise pick and she’s first on the listening board so I’ll have to see how the rest pan out before giving her final placement.
Artension – Decent enough amongst a mostly unstellar grouping.
Smokie – This might be a good band, but this song did nothing for me. Kind of like they wanted to be the Raspberries, but couldn’t find their Eric Carmen.
Goose Creek Symphony – Not bad really, just not my style.
Joseph Williams – Stellar group of musicians backing him on this, but it doesn’t knock my socks off at all. I was never one much to jump on the power pop train of the late 70s and 80s.
Ike Quebec – Wow, here’s another type of song I need to be in the mood for. It’s just not doing it for me.
1. The Rolling Stones -- I remember when the "Aftermath" LP was released and I loved it enough that I bought it twice, because the UK version had four more tracks (14 in all) than the U.S. one. This album proved historic in multiple ways and one of 'em was the length of "Goin' Home." Loved it then, love it now.
2. Goose Creek Symphony -- Simply wonderful to these ears.
3. Joseph Williams -- I like it, I like it!
4. Jane Froman -- Kudos to you, CB, for including this neat little clip of her. I grew up hearing about Miss Froman from my grandma, who was a fan, so I knew more about her than her music. Susan Hayward portrayed her -- Jane Froman, not my grandma -- in the film bio, which should count for something.
5. Ike Quebec -- Hey, I likes me some sax jazz, too.
6. J. Mascis -- Now that I'm here, I'm surprised this didn't rate higher.
7. Smokie -- Not bad.
8. Artension -- Not my cuppa tea.
Tim Burton was right: "A square jaw does not a Batman make." Steve Buscemi as the next Batman! Luke Perry as Joker! Let's make it happen!
Goose Creek Symphony - Really enjoyable. Nicely folksy without being overly bluegrass.
Ike Quebec - Interestingly, this is taking off the same tune as the the Jane Froman, but I liked Jane's better. This was cool. I liked it. I could have liked it better.
Smokies - Decent 70s rock. Wouldn't turn it off, but wouldn't go searching it out either.
Rolling Stones - The Stones aren't my favorites, but the more I hear of them, the more songs I find that aren't at all bad. This is another.
Joseph Williams - Nothing special. Felt like standard radio fare from about 20-30 tears ago.
Artension - Nice start. Not so great finish.
J Mascis - I gave this potential with the intro, but it didn't live up to it.
Ike Quebec - A wonderful breath of fresh air from the others and really stood out. I likes me some jazz too.
J Mascis - Nice tune.
Joseph Williams - Just 80's sounding enough for me, though it was released in 1997.
Jane Froman - Nice addition to the list for variety, and surprisingly good vocals.
Rolling Stones - Good classic Stones. Pretty much what I expected.
Artension - Ok, but went on a bit too long.
Smokie - Too jammy for me.
Goose Creek Symphony - I don't expect much interesting from a band with 'Creek' in the name, and they did not disappoint.
The Stones will go on to face the winners of the other four Goin' Home matches.
May have to do a covers match for the Jane Froman version. Don't know if I could sort out an original version though.
