I find Pulsewave a little frustrating for this reason:
As a ranged attack action, it can't be used if in base contact with an opposing figure... this prevents it being used in the dynamic comic book last ditch dang-I've-been-cornered way that would be a nice addtion to gameplay...
Is there anything overly ugly in stating that Pulsewave is a close combat action which happens to use half the figure's range value..?
A hovering figure can make ranged attacks while in base contact, but only against adjacent units. What would happen if a flyer with PW were in base contact with one figure, with two more figures a square or two away? (My guess: full PW damage to that one figure as if it were a single-target PW attack). How about two adjacent figures and one other a square or two away? (My guess? possibly a PW against the adjacent figures but not the distant one).
Boy, PW is one messed-up power. Not nearly as effective (or as simple to implement) as I expect the designers planned.
So. Any ideas how a flying PW would work in adjacent situations?
