I did a lengthy search and don't know if I am not using the right words, or no one has asked yet. Can you split that duo fig with the only Howard there is right now from Secret Invasion in Modern formats?
Ok, looked over the player's guide, and? it doesn't say no. It also doesn't list Spider Man as a set yet either. So could you perhaps point me to where in the rules it says that? Otherwise all I can find is that all Heroclix are compatible, and that if a fig is reissued you can use the old fig in it's place.

One of the great things about this game...you have to read multiple documents; and reread them every couple of months; to keep up with the game.
While MT and HtD can be Split into both figures, period, since Howard is Golden Age-legal only, he cannot be placed on the map in Modern Age games.
While The Player's Guide is comprehensive, it usually does not contain every nuance or address many issues. The most recent Tournament Guide (2013) addresses this issue:

All characters and resources must be from the Modern Age sets (listed above) and objects must either be standard objects or special objects from the Modern Age sets. Alternate Team Ability cards are permitted in Modern Age events regardless of the set they were originally printed. Between the event format (see below) and special rules (established in the event description), other rules may be applied to the force construction.
Okay, then another question. What does this mean exactly:
"2.1.2 Reprinted Characters: When a character has been reissued in a Modern Age set, then the Golden Age equivalent character can be used in a Modern Age event as well. An equivalent character has all the same game mechanics and sculpt, differing only by its set symbol and figure number."
Which now adds more confusion as I have never understood how this is supposed to work and have gotten about 4 different answers locally LOL. I mean, does it mean Duo Howard is a technical reissue, or even how does this rule work to begin with. I just want to understand this. I don't think I would split them anyway, but I might just to do so at some point. It's just a weird thing to do as a whole to put one but not the other in a set.

It refers to an exact duplicate.
For example, the Sinister had long been retired when the Marvel Classics packs were released. Among the figures in the Classics pack was an exact duplicate of the Nick Fury from the Sinister set.
While the Classics set was in the Modern Age, you could field the Sinister version of Nick Fury and be perfectly legal.

They are talking about an actual reprint. A reprint would be the exact same character (same point value, same dial, same sculpt) that was in a previous set being re-released again for some reason.
Around late 2009, early 2010, they released some classics packs. These were reprints of various figures from Secret Invasion and a few from Armor Wars, Ultimates, and Sinister. The ones from earlier were from golden age sets, however the classics pack was considered modern age. So you could play the classics reprint in a modern age game, or you could even play the original figure in a modern age game even though it was from a set that was golden age.
I can't think of any reprints that are out right now that are considered modern age.
