Doctor Who is the longest running science fiction television series ever. It has a broad cult following that's growing every year. Take an alien super sleuth, put him in a machine that travels time and space, give him a couple interesting friends and you have Doctor Who. The Doctor has been part of HeroClix imaginings among fans before, but there are always new and cool ideas coming up. Ideas like the ones you'll find right here!

First of all (while I've pointed it out before) Doctor Who would be fine in HeroClix since he actually had his own Marvel Comic back in the day. Apparently there's nothing wrong with "back in the day" either. Just look at the Legion of Monsters, Howling Commandos, and half dozen other gold and silver age characters that get made. In case you don't believe me, here's the evidence:
Naturally there are the points of current licensing and getting the franchise to do anything remotely American since the FOX television issue of the 90's, but I think it's doable. I think it's still doable since you still see parody work happen on shows like The Simpsons. If they can get away with it on The Simpsons, HeroClix could certainly pull it off, right?
So let's start this off with a Keyword Trait for TimeLords.
REGENERATION: When a figure with the TimeLord keyword is KO'd, you may replace that figure with a TimeLord of the same name but with the next sequential number on it's dial at full health. If you already have that TimeLord in play, ignore this trait. If the TimeLord is the last figure on your force, ignore this trait.
So, let's say you have Doctor #9 (played by Christopher Eccleston) in play and he get's KO'd. You may then put Doctor #10 (played by David Tennant) into play on his opening click. No, you can't skip generations, you have to have the right one to put into play and you can't go backwards. You also can't put a duplicate of any number into play. That keeps this from becoming completely insane. Also, putting the limitation on being the last figure on a force, keeps the game from going into overtime. Add that to the idea that the Doctor wouldn't have a real long dial anyway and it's not an overly broken idea.
Each Doctor would also bring his own unique abilities to the table, keeping the Doctor fresh and interesting. It would also make him a considerable threat.
Doctor #9 (Christopher Eccleston): All of the Doctors would have recurring mixes of Outwit, Probability Control, and Perplex and likely with special variations.
-"FANTASTIC!" Give the Doctor a power action and give all friendly figures +1 to attack for the rest of the turn. (this would be an attack special)
-Sonic Screwdriver (damage): The Doctor can use perplex but only on figures with the robot or armor keyword and only to affect attack or defense by + or - 2.
-Leather Jacket (defense): Toughness
-Two Hearts (defense): Willpower
Doctor #10 (David Tennant): This version of the Doctor brought new determination to the character and far less forgiveness of enemies. So he would have Indomitable. Moderate Telepathy (movement): The Doctor may use mind control but only on characters valued 100 points or less and in base contact. 3D Glasses (attack): The Doctor ignores other characters stealth or traits/team abilities that duplicate stealth. Sonic Screwdriver (defense): The Doctor may use incapacitate and Energy Shield Deflection. If used on a figure with the robot or armor keyword and the figure has no tokens, you may put two tokens on the figure instead.
Doctor #11 (Matt Smith): Trait: The Doctor Always Lies: The Doctor has Outwit and Perplex. New Sonic Screwdriver (attack): The Doctor may use incapacitate and mind control but only on figures with the robot or armor keyword. The Doctor may only use mind control on figures valued 100 points or less. Nothing as it Appears (Defense): The Doctor has super senses that is effective on a roll of 4-6.
Naturally there are variations of ideas that could apply, these just serve as one example. And of course, we can't forget the other characters!
Captain Jack Harkness: Trait: Cannot Die: If Captain Jack Harkness is KO'd, instead of removing him, turn him back two clicks and leave him on the map. Opponent scores points every time this happens. If Captain Jack is the last figure on your force, ignore this trait. Time Agent (movement): Phasing and Running Shot.
Combat Prowess (damage): Captain Jack has ranged combat expert and exploit weakness.
Rose, The Heart of the TARDIS: Based on the BADWOLF storyline that made Rose a superpower. She would have Indomitable. Her range would be 10 with 2 lightning bolts.
Controlled Molecular Decimation: Rose may use pulsewave at a locked damage of 2 and only damages opposing figures.
Punch through Defenses: Psychic Blast.
TARDIS Defenses: Rose has Energy Shield Deflection, Invulnerable, and Super Senses.
Other companions: The Ponds, Dr. River Song, Dr. Donna, Sarah, and K9. So there would be plenty of companions for a set. Heck that's 11 figures so far. Not a bad start for a gravity feed set.
Monsters or Villains: Who wouldn't or couldn't we put here. The Master with his laser screwdriver (that would give him marksman); The Gallifreyan President with his death gauntlet, Davros, The Silence, Daleks, Cybermen, Angels, Autons, random robots and even the Ood.
Just imagine forming a fleet of Daleks to send after your opponent. They would have psychic blast and marksman because there is no safe position from their weapons. Not only do I think Doctor Who would make a cool set, but it could make for more than one! It's also an expansion that would appeal to that broad following of collectors and fans out there. That means it would sell!
You never know, it could happen. Until then, keep those boxcars rolling and keep on clixin!

Great right up and I like the power ideas for The Doctor[s], Jack and Rose. This set would sell like hot cakes.... And my wife would steal all of mine.
I would love this, and it would probably be the thing that finally gets my fiance to play.
Also, Christopher Eccleston is slated to play Malekith in Thor 2, so that's kind of cool.
"Batman's voice was half the battle. It took me a while not to be rattled by it. And then I found out that he had to work at keeping Bruce's voice. Then I got rattled again." -Tim Drake
I would probably pass up on some normal superhero sets just to purchase more of this one. This set would be amazing and I am reaaaaaally hoping it happens.
Jack Harkness' 'Cannot Die' power should be more like Mr. Immortal. When he dies, he stays dead for a certain amount of time - generally based upon how much damage he took. So, when KO'd, turn him to that 'KO' he would land on - 12 being the maximum. Then, replace him with a 'Corpse' token. Then, every round turn his click back one, until he gets to his last 'Living' click. Finally, use Regeneration.
I gave up waiting for Wizkids to give me Doctor Whoclix long ago, and began making my own. I'm a Whovian from way back, so I already had a ton of miniatures in my collection based on the classic era of the series. For anyone who is interested however, there are several makers of gaming miniatures today who make what we need for our own Doctor Whoclix. Heresy Miniatures has several figures based on the relaunch of Doctor Who. Another supplier is Crooked Dice, and they make a number of minis based on British sci-fi TV series.
