2013 "Bag of Lemons" Event - Cherry City Game Palooza - June 8th - 3:30pm - Salem, OR
Thank you for reading and welcome to the 3rd Annual Bag of Lemons game, presented by Chaos! for Kids and supporting Give to the Troops and North Salem High School Wrestling! Over the past three years, players have traveled from all over the Northwest to participate in this special event, which would not be possible without the donations of local venues and players, so a big thanks goes out to Tony's Kingdom of Comics of Keizer and Borderlands Games of Salem for all their support!
Each player will receive a brown paper bag containing 12 or more figures (including a figure from the Fear Itself set!!!), one special object, a set of custom 'Bag of Lemons' dice and possibly more! Players will be asked to use the dice provided in the bags to ensure fairness.
The tournament will begin with three rounds of Swiss-style play at 300 points. However, players must construct a new team each round without using any figures used in the previous rounds. The special objects may continue to be added to your force each round until a figure picks it up in-game.
After the first three rounds, the top four players will enter into single elimination rounds at 500 points with the same rules applying as before: any figure used in the semi-final round cannot be included on your force for the finals, so choose wisely!
The winner of this years event will have their choice of one of the following prizes!!! Either :
The Mario Bros. Collection!
featuring custom sculpts of Mario, Luigi, and a duo figure of the Bros., all mounted on dials and fully playable!
or...
The Bat-Pack!
A sealed brick of Batman, plus an extra Super Booster!
Additionally, the 10 most rare figures (as determined by myself and Event Coordinator 'freddeazy') left over from the Fear Itself brick will be placed into a prize pool for the other top players to choose from, based on their tournament standing!
Finally, the Bag of Lemons tournament will be included in our 'Golden Ticket' promotion!!! For each fully completed* round, each player will receive a Golden Ticket to be used in our raffle for a set of Chaos War Giant-Man and Ant-Man LEs!!!
*A "fully completed round" implies that the players play the game until a clear winner is declared, and neither player forfeits or concedes unless the game is obviously unwinnable for one of the players.
Feel free to post in the thread or PM myself or freddeazy with any questions! I will post updates in this thread in addition to the RSVP list below.
SPACE IS LIMITED TO 40 PLAYERS SO SIGN UP NOW!!!
Cost - $25 with all proceeds going to the North Salem High School Wrestling program and Give to the Troops!!!

Here is a link to another thread discussing the event, with samples of two teams (without the Fear Itself figures listed... gotta keep you in suspense )
Love that I can make it but I scheduled my wife's surprise birthday for 7:30 in Portland, thinking this was going to start at 11 or 12! Lol, I'll still participate and have fun but I'll have to duck out early to get back in time!

There will be another tournament starting at noon, ran by peasant and with awesome unique prizes of it's own. More details to come

Yes, it will all be at the 'Cherry City Game Palooza', supporting Give to the Troops and the North Salem High School wrestling team!
On that note, I want to say that our past two years events helped Coach Pickett coach one his wrestlers (Raymond Smith) to a state title at 105lbs last year! The extra camps, clinics and tournaments the team is able to attend because of our support can really make a difference!

Speaking of Cherry City Game Palooza, In addition to the 2 Heroclix events C.H.A.O.S! for kids has planned for the day, there will be a carnival type event running concurrently that will utilize gaming to help raise funds for both of our noble causes! In addition to helping youth athletics, every $1.50 we raise for Give2TheTroops will send one pound of awesomeness to deployed troops in an individually packed care package.
As we all know, at large scale Heroclix events, there is often down time between matches and during staging times. I am interested in hearing what types of activities clixer’s would be interested in to pass this down time.
What follows is a list of preliminary activities that will be happening;
Carnival games
Free car wash from the North Salem Wrestlers
BBQ and concessions
Video game tournaments
Note writing stations (Give2TheTroops’ biggest need is hand written notes to include in care packages)
Raffles, silent auctions
Sooo, I was hoping to hear some creative ideas to help fill downtime in-between Clix matches and ensure that there are activities for all types of gamers.
Don't forget "the Wheel of Rarity for Charity", another mainstay of our fundraising events. For $1, anyone can step up and spin the wheel to win a prize of varying rarity, including Heroclix single figures and boosters, comic books, action figures and more! The Wheel is a great place for a new player to get a collection started by diving through the tons of figures we have available to choose from!
I'm not sure if we'll be doing the Hammer Smash this year though... if I recall correctly, I'm the only one to use it two years in a row! I still have the Solo I mutilated the first year; his legs are a greenish mush while his body remained intact from the waist up. Last year I smashed a Charile-27 but they're sturdier now so he cracked in half on my second swing and I lost part of him...
For those unaware, the 'Hammer Smash' is where we take Tony's (of Tony's Kingdom of Comics) 40+lbs Mjlonir replica and allow people to smash Heroclix figures in our safety area for a $1. Like I stated above, I'm the only one to use it both years, and last year only one other couple used it right at the end of the event. Is there any interest in smiting this year or should we scrap the idea?
