GG Namor and DC10 BL Superman leadership/ headlining question.
I have both Namor and Superman on my team. My opponent rolls a 3 for leadership. Namor's Imp rex kicks in, subtracting one from the roll, and then superman could heal 1 damage, correct?
IMPERIUS REX: Namor can use Leadership. Opposing characters subtract 1 from their Leadership rolls.
EMPOWERED BY DESPAIR: Whenever an opposing character rolls a 1 or 2 for a Leadership roll, you may heal Superman 1 damage.
Another man loomed up and the sword fell on him like a falling star, crushed his helmet and the skull beneath it down to his mouth. The body dropped on its back and danced a merry jig in the dirt."Dance!" laughed the Bloody-Nine.
I don't think so. Looking at the current wording, it sounds like they wan't to you actually roll that a 1 or a 2 on the die rather than having a result of 1 or 2. The difference is one is a hard value (think of rolling snake eyes and having a critical miss rather then rolling 3 and having reduced to 2) and the other is the net result. I think this ability wants the hard value.
They groaned, they stirred, they all uprose, Nor spake, nor moved their eyes; It had been strange, even in a dream, To have seen those dead men rise.
What's the roll for Leadership here, even with the -1 to Leadership? It's still a 2 so I say he heals.
But that's what I mean. WizKids is now starting to use die symbols instead of numbers. When a die symbol is used that means the die actually has to be rolled that way. If a number is used, that means it's the final result that the ability is looking for. It just depends on how Superman's ability is worded.

I'd say you wouldn't, they want you to actually get a die roll of a 1 or a 2. If they wanted it to just be a number, they would have said result instead.

Don't believe in yourself, believe in me who believes in you! Set your sights for the sun!

I would say he heals. Superman's power doesn't say "when a one or two shows on the die rolled for leadership" or some such. A character rolls a three, minus one, so the leadership roll is 2. Superman heals, and proceeds to eat brains.

Exactly.
In the M10 set, the Battlefield promotion traits some use the dice symbols for the results needed. Superman doesn't. He has the numbers, not the side symbols.
But I still thought I would get some other opinions. I looked at the player's guide and rule book and didn't see anywhere that contradicted where superman would heal, but want to cover my a$$.

I'm going to say that he heals as well, but only because a die symbol isn't being used. If it did have the die symbol, then I would say that an actual 1 or 2 has to be showing on the die for Superman to heal.
EDIT: Ignore this post. I changed my mind. Look below.

That's what I was trying to say earlier. I know they've revised some abilities like this to include the die symbol (the new PAC uses the die symbols rather than a number range) so I'm curious if they'll go back and revised this Superman to include the symbols as well with the next PG? Probably not though.

The roll does not mean the result. When you roll, you add and subtract a lot of things to it to get the result. Attacks go by the result to hit the target, and you have lots of powers, abilities, and even terrain that can affect the roll into the result. A critical hit doesn't happen when you roll a 5 and a 6 and modify the result by one.
I'll have to go with a no.
I miss? PC it. You hit? PC it. I hit? I can do better, PC anyways. You miss? I DIDN'T SEE SNAKE EYES, PC IT!

You know what. The power does say "rolls a 1 or 2". That, to me, means that a 1 or 2 has to show up on the actual roll. You're right that the word "result" would need to be used.
I changed my mind. I would now say that Superman would not heal if a 3 was rolled and it was combined with Namors effect.

I'm going to say that Namor changes the roll, so rolling a 3 would result in Superman healing.
But please do notice that Superman only heals on a 1 or 2 and nothing in Namor's power or Leadership sets the minimum at a 1. This means that if a 1 is rolled Namor will turn that into a 0 and Superman will not heal.
So basically there's still going to be only two results that will have Superman healing.

I could actually see this too... it leaves it fair. But the roll has always been separate from the total, and adding and subtracting have always been modifiers. But VP- nice call in that aspect. Cheers!
