I am trying to build a 400 point Mystics theme team to take to my next tournament. I have an ok team right now but I really need more middle cost characters...
I have been reading about wildcard team abilities and I am really confused... Can Wildcards be used to build a mystic theme team? Or any other team for that matter. Or are they just an extra team member that messes up the theme team, but they can copy the team ability??? So confused!!!
In my head if I am playing cards a wild card is anything that I say it is... I that the way it works when building a team??? Or should I be building a wildcard team and copy the Mystics team ability?????
So far my team is Man-thing, Daimon Hellstrom, Jennifer Kale, and Dare devil
Mystics Team Ability and Mystics keywords are two different things. There are characters that have the TA but not the keyword and vice versa. You just want to focus on the keywords. If all of your characters have the Mystics keyword, then you have a theme team. From there you can use Wildcard TA to copy any potential Mystics TA just for the game effect purposes and not force construction. Does that make sense?

Technically, there isn't even a "Mystics" keyword. The keyword is "Mystical" and the team ability is "Mystics". See? Different words. That should help with some of the confusion. Plus -you know- these previous two posters pretty much answered your question anyway.
Let’s look at an example. Say you start building your team and you’ve got Dr. Druid and Daimon Hellstrom, both have the Mystical keyword and the Mystics Team Ability. You could add Man-Thing or Brother Voodoo and still be a theme team, because they both the Mystical keyword even though they doesn’t have the TA. But they can't use the TA. That means your opponents won’t take damage when attacking them.
Let’s say you throw on GG Dr. Doom, a Wildcard. Still has the Mystical keyword, so it’s still a Theme team, and Dr. Doom can use his Wildcard TA to share Druid and Hellstrom’s Mystics TA, at least until they’re KOd.
But now let’s say you throw on a GG Doombot. He doesn’t have the Mystical Keyword, so your team is no longer theme, even though as a Wildcard he can copy the Mystics TA.
Just because I didn't see it mentioned specifically, the wildcard team ability lets you copy any team ability currently in use by another member of your force. It has nothing to do with the keywords at all. So playing a character with a wildcard team ability will let you copy the Mystics team ability and deal damage to opposing characters that damage your wildcard.
I recently played a 600 point Mystics ASM team of J. Kale, Daimon Hellstrom, Dr. Strange, Dr. Voodoo, Dr. Druid and The Ancient One and it wrecked. Take a look at Ancient One, his ability to make your opponent reroll and use Leadership on any mystics under 150 points is great, plus if he dies you get to give a Mystic +1 to attack stats...for the low price of 78 points. Also, Druid's PC is awesome in addition to J. Kale and his late game Pulse Wave/Poison clics are just nasty. Good luck!
WOW guys I am actually coming to a point of clarity now... I was mistaking the terms "Theme Team" and "Team Ability" together. So there is huge delineation between the two. Team Ability is what I am actually after, theme team not as much. Not that Theme team is bad I just think that TA is better.
One big question... How can I tell who are wildcards and who is not? I haven't seen it listed on the card or the dial.

Awesome, glad it's making sense for you. It can be great to double up if possible because the carded Theme Team bonuses to map roll and granting access to extra Prob rolls can really help you out while Team Abilities on the dial give you in game bonuses. That list should really help you, take a look at Spiderman Ally as a wildcard example.
Yeah!!! See i figured that I REALLY wanted the Mystics Team ability as well as building a theme team to get the extra dice modifiers and PC's. The TA for the Mystics is just AWESOME!!! But I will NEVER turn down the extra PC's!!!!
