No Alan Jackson or Philip Phillips?

I enjoy the Philip Phillips version with it's hints of Dave Matthews. Other than that, not sure who I'd pick.

My power just came on after four days, thank goodness! The storms this week really did a number where I live in North Carolina. Hopefully I can catch up with voting tomorrow, after throwing everything out of the refrig/freezer, and going grocery shopping!!

Mark Broussard - I've always liked this one. The driving drumbeat catches you from the start and it just doesn't let you go.

Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros - It kind of defies classification, but I really rather enjoyed it.

Zero 7 - Nicely mellow, but engaging

Stephanie Mills - I prefer the original cast recording. This one's a bit overblown, but still a pretty song.

Paul van Dyck - Okay. Nothing special.

Daughtry - Kind of ditto.

Three Days Grace - Angry hard rock, just not me.

Simply Red - Eye candy in the video trying to distract me from the fact that it's kind of a flat uninteresting song.

Michael Buble - I enjoy some of his takes on the standards, but this one was just bland.

I don't think there are any bad songs in this group, especially the top 5. Maybe being in the dark for a couple of days has mellowed me out. For whatever reason, it was a lot of fun comparing these! Thanks.

1- Daughtry- I can't help it, this is a great song. I always convince myself its not, probably because of American Idol, and then when I hear it again, I know it is good.
2- Michael Buble- Whoa, a great offering. I didn't think I cared that much for Michael Buble, but I could have been wrong!! Clear, real emotion, pretty.
3- Three Days Grace- Enjoyed hearing this one, nice blend of heavy and emotion.
4- Marc Broussard- Sounds like the real thing! What a cool sound.
5- Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros- A pretty complex song disguised as a ditty. I like it quite a bit.

6- Paul Van Dyk- I enjoyed this one also, not fantastic, but nice.
7- Zero 7- She has a nice voice. Nothing wrong with relaxing occasionally.
8- Stephanie Mills- Great voice, nice song. A bit bland for me.
9- Simply Red- I haven't heard Simply Red in a couple of decades. Always recognized the talent, rarely was it one of my favorites. Nice song, not my style.

Zero 7 – Trippy AND hoppy. Great mood setting and ambience.
Three Days Grace – Crunchy. Not bad at all. Give me power chords and strong riffs and I’m happy. That means I’m happy right now 
Stephanie Mills –the finest song from the Wiz.
Daughtry – Nice little chorus/hook, but the rest of the song doesn’t come up to the level of its chorus. The lyrics are okay, but not deep. I always expected more from him after how well he did on AI.
Edward Sharpe – Whistling! All songs with whistling get a plus one bump in my ratings. Other than the whistling, this left me kind of flat.
Michael Buble – has such a beautiful voice, but it’s just not my type of thing. When it comes to crooners, I’d rather go old school and listen to Dino, Tony or Frank.
Simply Red – Simply not that interesting to me musically. The video however…DAMN!
Mark Brousard – Sorry Cap, not liking this one much at all, only good thing is it finally ended.
Paul Van Dyk – musically trite and lyrically lacking. One of the songs I was glad to stop early and not listen to all of it.
