So, our next film, Classic or Crud, Hit or Miss, what say you ALL?
Our next film open for discussion, and ultimately an Overall RATING by you all, is:
MAN OF STEEL
Let the discussions flow. Likes, dislikes, classic film or overhyped trash, and DONT FORGET to place an Overall Rating when youre done.
Its easy, just give a Rating from 1 (Jaws 4:The Revenge) to 10 (Jaws), and thats it. Course I'd love to have you all give reasons as to why you feel it deserves this Overall Rating, and more than encourage discussions with us all about them.
ALSO: I urge Any and All of you who have yet to do so, to go back to our older catalogue of RtM films (Very easily done by the Links List right on the top of the Rate The Movies Forum), and vote for your favorite, not so favorite, and anything in between movies. We have HEAPS there already, some Classics, some Crud, let's hear what YOU think about them ALL!
So, what say you all?

HCR Rates The Movies Is Back! Come and share your thoughts on a TON of films, new and old! Our latest movie - BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE
I enjoyed movie thoroughly, however there were some elements I was unhappy with. Don't stay for after the credits, there is nothing there. Apparently Marvel is the only one cool enough to do that.
The best: The Feelings, the action, Crowe, Costner and Diane Lane.
Almost flawless, WANT IT TO LOVE IT BUT...
I have SO MANY problems with the ending:
Spoiler (Click in box to read)
-WHY Superman have to say about been raise on Kansas? that don't help his secret identity.
-The "Im as american as it gets" we are in a globally World now. Superman specially for the new millenium should be more global than (nort) american.
-He don't look or act ANY different as Clark to make even a little posible to believe his secret identity.
- HE KILLED Zod. and survive without "visible" emotional damage.
-He and Zod falled exactly were Lois was? would have been a lot better if he try to kill Lois to "explain" she been close.
-Ending lack of sublime lines like explaning why he is the Man of Steel or Man or Tomorrow or ANYTHING of him saying or thinking sublime lines.
-No scene after credits.
-No mention of Batman, Justice League or anything.
-Not rumored Reeve cameo (stand in and scene taked from Superman 3).
If those things would had been fixed it could had been the best movie ever or the best Superman movie ever . Since none of that happen, then my veredict is...
7 of 10.

I'm sad dissapointed, frustrated and depresed that the Superman of the new millenium is a killer. Is not about what option he had, is about what he could do or not. Superman should have NOT be able to kill not even if he want it.
I wanted to wait to see it again tomorrow before I posted here. I know I'm geeked over the movie, being a Superman fanatic and all, so take it for what it's worth. I may revise this once I see it again.
First of all, most of the acting was amazing. I was skeptical about Amy Adams as Lois. She didn't represent a feisty Lois, but she did represent Lois' hard-pressing journalist well. I'm not 100% sold on her, but she did a fine job.
Michael Shannon was great as man driven by his purpose and taking a "by any means necessary approach." His characterization of General Zod gets stronger as the movie progresses and he develops the most depth of any character in the movie.
Faora was AMAZING. True to the original incarnation, without really stating it-she is a Horo-Kanu expert and man-hater. Ruthlessly the best combatant in the movie. I think that Antje Traue was very HOT and did a great job. She was one of the better characters in the movie.
I think that Henry Cavill did a respectable job as Superman and as someone who was trying to figure out his purpose. Not really enough done as Clark Kent in my mind to warrant review.
The action scenes were done extremely well, though some of them did harken back to some of the ones done in the first 2 Transformers movies and in Batman Begins- too quick and up close to see what was really going on.
Unlike many, I understand a few of the "why did they do this" moments, specifically Jonathan's statements regarding the bus scene, what he does during the tornado, and the ending of the movie. I am completely fine with all of it.
There are a few things I took issue with, but I don't want to spoil it. Still a great film to me. I give it a 9/10.
Edit: Just saw it for the second time. Picked up on several things that made more sense the second time around. Sticking with my 9/10.

Kill was an eception after thousands and thousands of stories. This is the first story of this Superman and he did that?
Also is not the same he doing it in from of the comic book readers than do it in front of so many people on a this movie that will have so much exposure.
I remember Superman promising himself never do that again... and then he confront the Aliens! (Superman Aliens). And he kept his promise.
Also: I have no problems about Jonathan views. He was just human. Scare for his and want it to protect his son.
Superman was the simbol of hope, he should had hope even with Zod.
Should had Superman let Zod kil that family?
I will say something from the movie: Maybe.
Because again. Superman should not have viable to kill. I rather Superman to be "weak" by not have the internal power to kill than he killing and then cryng like a baby on Lois belly.
I change my mind, the ending is too not good to let it pass... 5 of 10.

Zod has not appeared in thousands of stories and when Superman killed him in Superman #22, it was his first appearance in a story line post COIE.
I agree that there should have been more emotional affects, but it was the end of the movie at that point. Would you have wanted to see him spend the last half our of the movie on a psychiatrist's couch? LOL!
Besides, the next time it should have an affect, would be in a sequel when he is faced with the same type of situation. It literally took years before he was faced with a similar situation...from Superman #22 until Action Comics #775..where his actions were reexamined and his response was different.

Btw, every moment it pass. I like this movie even less...
Oddly enough, I feel the same way. The more I think about the flaws in this movie, the more and more I keep coming to the conclusion that it just sucked. So no dancing around the number here. On a pass/fail score, it just failed.
I'm giving it a 1 out of 10. May Rao have mercy on the JLA movie's soul.
-WHY Superman have to say about been raise on Kansas? that don't help his secret identity? Kansas is a pretty big state. It's not Texas, but it's a far cry from Rhode Island
-The "Im as american as it gets" we are in a globally World now. Superman specially for the new millenium should be more global than (nort) american? When talking to an US Army General about being a good guy, you probably should make claims as to being American. (especially in a private conversation). When you address the UN publically, then you can be a little more global minded.
-He don't look or act ANY different as Clark to make even a little posible to believe his secret identity. He wasn't really the Clark Kent alter ego until the very end. Before then, he was Joe.
- HE KILLED Zod. and survive without "visible" emotional damage. Killing Zod was poor writing all the way. Superman doesn't kill on purpose. They blew it here.
-He and Zod falled exactly were Lois was? would have been a lot better if he try to kill Lois to "explain" she been close. That I chalk up to the magic of the movieverse.
-Ending lack of sublime lines like explaning why he is the Man of Steel or Man or Tomorrow or ANYTHING of him saying or thinking sublime lines. This doesn't bother me as Superman never seemed to be a big spotlight hog imo. Also, IIRC, nobody ever uses these terms in the movie.
-No scene after credits. DC just isn't as cool as Marvel.
-No mention of Batman, Justice League or anything. DC just isn't as cool as Marvel.
-Not rumored Reeve cameo (stand in and scene taked from Superman 3). Not sure what you mean here.
