What are the details for this. Time, date, location, cost etc?
^Because this seems like a good way to start a thread for something about which I know relatively little, and I couldn't have put it any better myself.
So, it seems Clix in the city got off to a bit of a rocky start - but never fear! While it will still take some time to organise proper prize support and the like, the long-term plan is to hopefully hold a fortnightly tournament at 6pm on Monday nights (on the alternate week from the Sunday arvo tourneys at Burwood) which will be run by a brand new, ruggedly handsome judge with whom many of you should already be familiar.
So, without further ado, next week's tournament will be...
With the world abuzz over these two giants of the comic book world battling it out at the box office, their war is about to spill over onto the Heroclix tables!
400 points, Modern Age - Build two (2) teams:
- One must include a "Superman" (i.e. Superman, Clark Kent, Cyborg Superman, Composite Superman, Superboy, Eradicator, Steel, etc.)
- The other must include an "Iron Man" (i.e. Iron Man, Tony Stark, Hulkbuster, Thorbuster, War Machine, Iron Patriot, etc.)
- The "Superman" and/or "Iron Man" included in your team may be Golden Age
- If one player's "Superman" KOs the other player's "Iron Man" (or vice-versa) double the normal amount of victory points are scored (i.e. Old-School Arch Enemy Rules)
If there are any questions/requests/WTFRUDOIN!?!, please feel free to post them below.

You weren't kidding about having it up by 4am, were you?

Somebody was kind enough to point out a few things I neglected to mention (or consider). So, without any FUTHER further ado...
Q. What if a player has more than one Iron Man or Superman figure? Do they all count for the extra points for scoring? Can all of them be Golden Age if that's what they want?
A. If one or both player(s) have multiple "Supermen" or "Iron Men" the "Arch-Enemies" are selected by the opposing player, and yes - if they can be reasonably considered to be either "Superman" or "Iron Man", they can be Golden Age.
2. Most recent version of AE rules (before they ditched them completely) gave you a bonus score of 50 pts or the figures cost, whichever is less. I guess this is to stop blowouts.
A. Fair point. Although I do think 50 points doesn't seem like enough of an incentive to make it personal. Would there be any objections to me making it a minimum of 100 points instead?
Q. Superman can come on the JLA team base. Is this something you are ok with having happen?
A. Y'know what? Yes. It's not something I'd considered before devising the format, but I can't think of a good reason to ban the JLA team base for this event. With No Man's Land still wrapping up at Burwood and a heavy schedule of Fear Itself sealed events and a regional qualifier in which anything bigger than a peanut is banned on the horizon, the tournament on Monday night would be the first opportunity anybody has had to play the JLA team base in a tournament - and it may be their last chance for quite some time. I know if I had the JLA sitting on my shelf, I'd be dying for a chance to try them out!
I do make one request: If anybody using the JLA Team Base as their "Superman" team is paired up against a newcomer or somebody relatively unfamiliar with the game, please "volunteer" to use your "Iron Man" team.
4. Modoc brought up a good point with the vs kind of things, where one of the teams is just really uncompetitive against the opponent's opposite, so we stopped making it you had to play one vs the other. One player picked their team, and the other picked their team so you could end up with, for example, Iron Man vs Iron Man. Not saying you have to do it like this, just that it's something to think about.
^This. Totally cool. I just hope that everybody gets a chance to play both of their teams.
5. Also, you should mention whether it's new or old rules, and point out that Modern Age changed yesterday (the 1st of July) to be from the Superman set onwards.
I reckon that since we already played with the new rules last week, and because I don't want to teach any new players how to play one version of the game this week and another a fortnight later, we may as well go in guns blazing with the NEW RULES!
Energy Explosion, AHOY!!!
Hopefully this helps clear a few things up, and I still look forward to judging you all.
Unfortunately Taasi was sick and couldn't make it last night, which is bad.
However we did have a few new players, which was good!
We didn't get started until almost an hour late, which is bad.
People did seem to enjoy the games they got to play, which is good!
Because of the odd number of players I didn't get to play, which is bad.
But I did get to go to Miss Chu's for dinner beforehand, which is good!
Talking at the end of the night, we thought to make it pretty straightforward for the next game, so the following has been suggested, awaiting confirmation from the judge.
Monday 22nd July - 300pts Golden Age
There was also a couple of people there looking on interested in the game, so if people were inclined to bring spare newbie friendly teams it would probably be a good thing. Also if people could remember to go easy on the newbies that would be good. (I'm looking at you Captain Dave, and your cutthroat ways)
I, however, will not be there. As I am in Melbourne at that time for PAX, and not thinking of any of you and your little plastic men. So I will see the Monday crew in a month.

JUDGE CONFIRMED (with apologies)!!!
I look forward to kicking off my judging duties in a fortnight.
Essentially, it's last week's tournament postponed for a fortnight (I was the only one there on Monday).
Once again, please feel free to post any questions and suggestions below, and I look forward to seeing y'all on the 6th (except for that one guy who was there last time - he was a real jerk).

I would like permission to play 302 points, as I want to play a representation of the greatest movie of 2013.

The following is the date and format of Good Games Town Hall's Regional Qualifier Tournament, as it stands now:
*******
Regionals - 1pm Saturday, 10th of August - $40 entry
Modern Age - 500 points - 250 Constructed/250 Sealed
Players bring a 250 point constructed force, and receive two boosters ($15 each, with the additional $10 going towards prize support) from which they then add an additional 250 points of figures.
Any Additional Team Abilities (ATAs) assigned to characters in a player's 250 point constructed force MUST also be assigned to all characters added from the sealed component whom posses the requisite keyword(s).
Any Relics or Resources included in a player's 250 point constructed force which are "assigned to the team as a whole" (i.e. Book of the Skull) are also assigned to all characters added from the sealed component whom meet the requisite condition(s).
The tournament will consist of 4 rounds, each with a 50 minute time limit. The winner of the event will receive free entry into both the Sealed and Constructed Australian Heroclix National Championship at Draggon (Bankstown Sports Club, August 24th-25th) and a Gold Medal with their name on it.
*******
Regular tournaments are scheduled to run at Good Games Town Hall fortnightly on Monday nights. However, the format of this regional event might prove difficult for those who are required to be awake on a Tuesday morning - thus the Saturday afternoon timeslot.
If anybody interested in attending a Regionals at Good Games Town Hall could express said interest below, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, please mention if the date or time of the event would allow/prevent your attendance, and which atlernative date/time you would prefer.
As of now it is scheduled for August 10th: The Saturday between the Regionals at Good Games Hurstvile and their Fear Itself Month 3 event, and the day before Good Games Burwood's Fear Itself Month 2 Sunday event. I will update this thread with any changes.
Just posting a quick reminder/announcement for tomorrow night's tournament. I hope those planning on attending are as excited about playing in it as I am about judging it. And for those of you with $4 burning a hole in your pocket, I have been informed that Pacific Rim, Bioshock Infinite and Wolverine and the X-Men Gravity Feed Clix are IN STOCK at Good Games Town Hall.
Full list of Heroclix products available:
Pacific Rim, Wolverine X-Men (Gravity Feed), Superman, Amazing Spider-Man, Batman, Star Trek, Bioshock Infinite, Lord of the Rings, and Iron Man 3.
