Matt Osborne who wrestled as the original Doink, Big Josh and Matt Borne was found dead by his girlfriend today.

An odd comment in Wikipedia said he died from lack of support from his fans and drug abuse.

I would imagine that the drug abuse had a bit more to do with it than lack of fan support. And the sad thing is, 56 sounds positively ancient, as a lot of these guys don't even make it to 40.

It's possible that he was turning to drugs more because he felt he was washed up. His girlfriend might be blaming the fans. I expect that comment will be removed before long.

Osbourne's Doink was probably the best incarnation of the character. He just seemed to be that evil clown, that creeped everyone out. Ray Apollo's version was just comedic relief. Same with Nick Dinsmore and Steve Lombardi.

It's sad to see some of these guys fall apart. Wasn't too long ago that I had seen him in an independent show. Loved what he had done with the character. Based of Heath Ledger's Joker. Just seemed to be that crazy clown gone nuts.
