Good week for me! Can anyone say anything about the quality of Astro City? I've heard good things about the past runs and since it's in the early issues I was thinking about picking it up.

I'm a big fan of Astro City from way back, and I can say that all of the original, great quality is still very present. Astro City usually tells stories around superhero events rather than about superhero events, and Busiek has said in a recent interview that this first arc is intended to be very friendly to new readers. You shouldn't have to be deeply knowledgeable about past Astro City events to be able to appreciate the current one.

Wolverine and the X-men #34
maybe Uncanny X-men#10(this has been very blah for me which is surprising as Emma, Cuckoos, Magik, and Magneto what more could you want. I hate the artwork)

Not a bad lineup at all. I've decided to start reading Hawkguy, so for anyone who reads that title: Do I need to start with a specific issue to avoid being lost, or can I jump on board just about anywhere? I'm going to pick up what I've missed in trade if I can't find the single issues.

The trades are worth it. Considering it's not too far along, getting the whole of how we got to now will make picking up the Annual and a couple of the latest issues that are taking some interesting turns or paying off from earlier events a worthwhile thing. My grammar aside, get the trades.
Considering each trade comes in under $20, they deliver great bang for your buck.
Once you have those, getting the other few issues to get all up to speed should be relatively easy for you at any shop that's been doing their ordering well.

I'll second Jack's call on recommending the trades. They've set up a very cool little world for Clint, with a lot of in-jokes that might not be fully appreciated if you just jump in the middle. You'll likely still like the comic, even if you miss a joke or two, but for best effect, I'd start from the beginning.

Ok, great to know. I'll pick up the first two trades (issues 1-11) and start reading the single issues that come after that point. Looking forward to jumping onto the Hawkeye train. Any regulars in the title other than Kate Bishop?
