when you use energy explosion, say doctor doom...it lowers the damage to 1, but can he perplex his damage up to a 2 then use EE? and also, when successfully hitting the target, the splash damage, is that automatic, or do the adjacent figures have opportunity to take less damage by invulnerability etc, and super senses? ONE other question for now, haha...when a figure is incapacitated, do i need to break away from that figure, or am i still considered attatched to him?? OK THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ANY REPLIES, much apreciated.
You have to do the PErplex before the Energy Explosion is announced. So you boost the damage up first then reduce it to 1. You cant do it after its been reduced to 1.
ok so i got my ### kicked last night for nothing, even though i disagreed the whole time with what he was doing. that's just ###### great!!! ok so how about the splash damage and incapacitate questions?? thanks
ENERGY EXPLOSION. [ORANGE] This figure's ranged combat attack can affect all figures in base contact to the target. (Optional) Give this figure a ranged combat action and reduce its damage to 1. Make only one attack dice roll. Compare that result to the defense value of the target figure and every figure in base contact with the target figure. A successful ranged combat attack inflicts 1 click of damage on each figure hit.
1. If you miss the primary target of an Energy Explosion attack, you miss the adjacent figures as well. The "splash damage" effect is triggered by a successful attack on the declared target.
2. Energy Explosion does not affect objects or terrain - it only affects figures. A figure with the Energy Explosion power that wishes to destroy a square of terrain or an object must turn off Energy Explosion in order to affect it.
3. All figures that take damage from this attack will suffer knockback, if it occurs, except the figure that deals the damage. They all must move away from the figure that attacked, starting with those furthest away from the attacker. A figure cannot be knocked back by damage from its own Energy Explosion attack (though it will still take the damage).
4. If a figure with this power can attack multiple targets, Energy Explosion can be used to target all of them. All the damage done by each Explosion takes place at the same time, so Toughness & Invulnerability can only stop part of the total damage.
5. Energy Explosion with multiple attacks and using shield agents--an example: Two opposing figures, A and B, are adjacent to each other. I have a figure with two lightning bolts and the Energy Explosion power. I use Energy Explosion on both A and B, then my adjacent S.H.I.E.L.D. agent enhances the damage. I roll high enough to hit both, so A gets hit for 2 (1 + 1 for S.H.I.E.L.D.) B, adjacent, gets "Splash damage" for 2 (1 + 1 for S.H.I.E.L.D.) B gets hit for 2 (1 + 1 for S.H.I.E.L.D.) A, adjacent, gets hit for 2 (1 + 1 for S.H.I.E.L.D.) A and B receive a total of 4 damage each. [FAQ]
Still reduce splash damage from Toughness and Invuln. ALthough not Imp.
Also yes you need ot breakaway from a figure thats been Inc.
thanks alot machine, apreciate it. last thing, does enhancement and shield figures need line of fire to help the EE character, or can they just be adjacent?? i promise i won't bother you again (for now that is) haha
wait, why not impervious, it's still -2 correct, and why can't impervious and super senses play a factor? i guess because there isn't a roll against the splashed characters. i told you "for now"
Originally posted by Deadpool91 so supersenses cannot be rolled on a splashed character? thanks machine, your the man!
A character with supersenses who is being hit with splash damage will get to roll to avoid it (as he/she is being affected by a range combat attack which in the criteria that must be met for supersenses).
A character with impervious will not get the roll or reduce damage as impervious is only activated if the character is the target of the attack. So if the character was both targetted and taking splash damage from a single multi-targetted attack they would get to roll, if it was just splash damage they are not being targetted so they don't get to roll.

You know... it amazes me that people can quote directly the rules text and still get it wrong because of the commononly thought of interprtation:

First of all, remove the term "Splash damage" there is nothing splashing here, it was just a descriptive way of explaining it, and the core of the problem. Note the bolded section of the actual rules above. You compare your attack roll against the target and every person next to the target. You do not have to hit the primary target. You compare your attack roll vs the defense of each person you can possibly hit with EE individually. Hitting the primary target does not mean you automatically hit the other targets, and missing the primary target doesn't affect your chances of hitting any of the secondary ones. The only thing the primary target does is indicate where the attack is 'centered' and who are potential secondary targets. Nothing to do with your chance to hit any of the targets at all.
First off, with out trying to flame to much, it amazes me that you cant read. This text, as I said in my last post, is before the indy rules. This is well over a year old. Thats how the rules were played back then!
So please read the whole thing before you answer a question!
