(I posted this over on the WK forum, but I thought it'd be fun to share it with you.)
Did you know that if a Fantastic Four member gets knocked out, a previously knocked out F4 member receives a click of healing and returns to the game?
FANTASTIC FOUR: When a member of the Fantastic Four team is defeated, every other friendly Fantastic Four team member receives 1 click of healing.
Note it doesn’t say this affects only characters on the map. So all your F4 figures, including previously KOed ones, get a click of healing!*
But wait, you say. Isn’t there some limitation in the rules about using team abilities? Well, you’re right:
Team Abilities: In general, team abilities are in effect as long as one member of that team is still on the map, though some team abilities require that more than one figure in your force be from the same team.
Note the careful wording, though. "In general". That’s pretty vague, and implies that some specific team ability might operate on figures no longer on the map
But isn’t it ridiculous to take the wording from the PAC and think it completely overrides the basic rules of the game? Well, here’s what DrG had to say on that exact same subject in another thread:
DrGandalf: Actually TheSpirit, the PAC does take precedence over the rules. Technically, most of the superpowers in the PAC are direct exceptions to the rules, hence them being so "Super".
So the F4 team ability in the PAC is an exception to the rule that a team member must be on the map to receive the benefit of this power. After all, defeated figures are still friendly, if unconscious.
So go field a team of zombie Things and (in)Human Torches, constantly popping up on their last click like something out of Night of the Living Dead! It’s fun, and best of all, it’s perfectly in keeping with the logic of the Perplex ruling.
(Yeah, this is a joke. But then again, so are most of the rulings in this game.)
(*note: the wording "every other friendly" F4 member could also mean every second F4 member. Check with your local judge to see which interpretation is currently in vogue in your area.)
You can read what you want into it, but the rule and the PAC are pretty solid.
As soon as a character is KO'ed he is knocked out of the game, pure and simple. Also, yes the FAQ is newer, but it also states specifically when it is changing a rule, other than that, it enhances it.
[rulebook] Defeating Characters
As soon as three KOs appear in the stat slot, your character is defeated. Take him off the map—he is knocked out and out of the game!
Other below means - besides the currently KO'ed figure.
[PAC] Fantastic Four: When a member of the Fantastic Four team is defeated (shows 3 KOs in the stat slot), every other friendly Fantastic Four team member receives 1 click of healing.
Also, the PAC, says friendly team member, if you are out of the game, you are no longer a team member.
I would say if we want to "rules lawyer" this to death than delise has it right. If you have rookie Robin on a team of Minions of Doom and you K.O. Robin, your MoDs no longer have that fun stealth abilty because Robin is no longer on the team -- he is K.O.ed.

Actually, I'm shocked that this is even an issue. I think somebody thought they had a clever out, but didn't do all their homework. Sure, you state two things you did look up, and a thread that had nothing to do with it, but let me put the simple rule down again.

Can you please tell me another meaning to "out of the game"?

I'll assume you meant PAC there instead of FAQ, otherwise it doesn't make sense with what I said. And if so, you should know that DrG ruled the exact opposite regarding Perplex ending. Simply put, because there is a mention of Perplex ending in the PAC, that rule apparently supersedes the one in the rule book about powers ending when you lose them. Therefore, since there is a rule in the PAC about F4 figures gaining a click of healing and it doesn't specifically deny you the ability to heal a KOed figure, then it must be allowed. At least, that's the logic DrG is using, and since he's the arbitrator we all must follow his thinking.
(I can't believe people are taking this seriously. DaLuvster89 apparently picked up on my sarcasm, so I'm not completely crazy. Again, it's a JOKE, people.)
So now TheSpirit has caught on to my game. The "post a silly interpretation of the rules and see how mad it makes people" game.
Fun, isn't it.
And, just in case you are taking this thread seriously, please stop. We are all well aware that when someone is KO'd they are no longer on your team. You can't use their team abilities, and team abilities that affect figures on your team don't work on them.
I know your joking, I read the sarcasm, I am just surprised that it would be an issue.
On the question of the FAQ
I was talking specifically about the FAQ and your the comment of what DrG said.
In general the FAQ is always the most recent, but in general, the FAQ states when it is changing a rule. In other aspects the FAQ adds to the rule book to clear up issues.
Brilliant, TheSpirit! Of course, this will only work on clix that took exactly the right amount of damage. If, say, you're on your last click and get hit for two damage, TWO of your teammates would have to be KO'd to bring you back!
