Greetings HeroClix players. HCRealms.com is excited to announce a new partnership with TCGPlayer.com for 2014 and beyond for the Realms Open Championship better known as ROC. ROC tournaments will now be able to be played throughout USA and Canada along with a few select places around the world.
There will be various levels of ROC tournaments that are meant for small groups of local players and for larger events of forty to one hundred plus players. All ROC Tournaments will be run utilizing the most current WizKids Comprehensive Tournament Rules with the following addendum:
Zero Point Ties: In the event that a round ends and both players involved having scored zero victory points both players will be given a zero point loss.
Maps: In all one-on-one matches only 2'x3' maps will be allowed. In Battle Royal events only 16 square x 16 square maps will be allowed. Maps will follow with the “Age” of the tournament. Any particular event may include an approved map list.
Byes: In any finals event where the winner is awarded a regional, national or international title if a player drops the bye associated with said drop will be scored as a win with 50% of the build total in victor points. All other byes in ROC events will be ruled per the WizKids tournament rules.
Round Timing: Once a round has started the head Judge/time keeper will give out two time warnings. One with 30 minutes remaining (+/- 5 minutes) and one when there is less than 5 minutes remaining. Once time expires a “Final Action” notice will be given. At that time only those actions that a player is in the middle of resolving or any action already declared may resolve. All other game activities cease immediately.
Late Player: Any player that arrives after any given round has officially started may continue to participate. Any round for which a player is late will be scored as a zero point loss. This is not limited to the first round.
Print & Play: Every game element that was made with a card must have said card with it for it to be a legal element. You must have one unique card for each element in play.
Those persons involved with the ROC (Other ROC event coordinators, Director, etc.) may participate in ROC events that they are not affiliated with. Those persons directly involved in officiating any given event may not participate. This includes time keepers, Judges, scorekeepers and any other position directly involved with the event.
HCRealms.com will post rankings of players participating in ROC. ROC will provide a Tournament Report for each event to be filled out by that events director/judge. This sheet can be faxed, emailed, or mailed to HCRealms.com ROC Director. Reports must be sent within 3 days of completion of event.
Point System
Players rankings and points will be based on a 12 month period. At the end of 12 months, all points from the first month will be deleted. This will repeat every month therefore only points received in the last 12 months will be used to determine a players official ROC ranking. Points will be awarded per the ROC Points chart. HCRealms will create, maintain, and post rankings via HCRealms.com site.
Any store/venue may run ROC League play and /or a ROC Qualifier. Simply purchase your kit below and begin. All Super Qualifiers must be approved by HCRealms.com. Simply click the link below and complete the application and then follow the instructions. The ROC Director will then contact you and upon approval will provide a link for you to purchase your kit.
TIPS:
League and Qualifier play is meant to work with Wizkids organized play. You may run ROC events on weeks that there is no Wizkids organized play but you may also run them in conjunction to enhance Wizkid events as long as there are no Wizkids rules that prevent the two from working together.
We recommend that stores run routine league play and create a method for inhouse points standings. The venue should keep up with and post standings for players. We also recommend that the store award their league champion a prize in the form of a trophy, store credit, LE figures or product. This is each stores discretion and certainly not a requirement.
We suggest that Super Qualifiers work with local stores in their radius to host Qualifiers. The winners of the Qualifiers should receive paid entry from those stores and a first round bye at the Super Qualifier. Again this is not a requirement but it is a good tool to build up your Super Qualifier and to promote an exciting ROC environment.
Our prizes are meant to be unique and collectible. Changes will occur to keep this effect. Those changes could be color, design, or something as simple as a year mark. We are constantly looking looking for new types of prizes and are subject to add them in new kits at any time.
Note: Product Prize images subject to change
Action Tokens
Dice
Hat
Maps
Our maps are newly designed by Grid Reality. They are soft cushioned made with a material similar to mouse pads just like Magic playmats. Our maps are never folded and come rolled in a protective tube.
Points Card
Points cards will come with various point values. These points can be accumulated and used for redemption of prizes at TCGPlayer.com. The more points that a player can accumulate will offer that player a higher level of prizes. Points can be used for for qualification at the championship at Dragon*Con 2014 in Atlanta Georgia. The more points that player can accumulate will offer that player a further starting point of play at Dragon*Con. Cards can also be traded, sold, and given away.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the only event in NY happened over a month ago.
And the next closest thing is in Philly. Goodnight, everybody!
I think it's great what you guys are doing, and I'm glad that you've expanded to become such a big, influential, comprehensive organization. Really, that's highly impressive. Expanding internationally is also huge...Canada and UK? That's amazing.
It just kinda sucks that the next New York Clix Event will be in 11 months...for Clixathon 2015, if that happens. Even though it will actually be in September of 2014. Semantics. Huge bummer for me.
