I want these clixed: Doc Savage, Fu Manchu, Tarzan, The Shadow, The Green Hornet & Kato, Conan, Solomon Kane, The Phantom, King Kong, Universal Monsters, Black Orchid, Manhunter (Paul Kirk), Xemnu the Titan, unclixed Kirby Fourth World characters, and Lilith, Daughter Of Dracula.
1) Goo Goo Dolls - They remind me of a polished Replacements, which isn't a bad thing at all. I still like the 'Mats quite a bit more though, but this is a pretty decent tune.
2) Billy Talent - I had heard of them, but never heard a song. This was a nice listen.
3) Sleater Kinney - I enjoy them, but I never go out of my way to listen to SK. This song could change that. A nice build up in the beginning to the meatier part of the song.
4) Rare Bird - Very 60's hippy rock sound. Kind of a product of it's time.
5) Uriah Heap - METAL! kinda?
6) Depeche Mode - Never was a DM fan. Not a bad song, but I still want to change it about 20 seconds in.
7) Six By Seven - ugh, they get no sympathy from me. Pretty monotonous, like a 90's SNL skit where they keep trying the joke 100 times until you laugh.
A good group of songs, mostly. Which song sparked this title round?

I always understood that the Goo Goo Dolls were heavily influenced by the Replacements.
I thought you knew I have old hippie blood. Rare Bird triggered this match.

This one is a little bit difficult. There wasn't anything in there that I really loved, nor was there anything that I really hated. It's all ok.
Uriah Heep
Sleater Kinney
Six By Seven
(those top 3 can be in any order)
Depeche Mode
Rare Bird
Goo Goo Dolls

Billy Talent
(putting Billy Talent at the bottom is the only sure thing on my list)
My wife has no votes this time. She said nothing stood out to her.
Sleater-Kinney –Shades of Lou Reed, here’s someone (band) who understands how to make strong rock that gives you pause to contemplate everything you heard or read today.
Depeche Mode –Not a favorite song of theirs for me.
Six by Seven – Better than the rest. Has some elements I like, but it’s like the musical equivalent of Chinese food, I’m still hungry for music after hearing it.
Billy Talent – I’m not thrilled with this. The lyrics are too simplistic for my taste.
Goo Goo Dolls - I like the Goo Goo Dolls, I really do, but this is atrocious. They’re trying too hard to have another Iris or Name
Uriah Heep – I hate this guy singing. He tries too hard to be Dave Byron (Heep’s former singer) who could sing circles around him.
Rare Bird – Don’t think I ever want to hear this again. I totally disliked the two vocalists. They didn’t complement each other and the lyrics were a bit…wanting.
I had reasons written up for my rankings, and then the site or my browser hiccupped when I tried to post it and it was all lost to the ether. Sorry if I don't rewrite them.

Thank you for introducing me to Sleater Kinney. I will expore their music further.
If I went by groups that I liked, my list would be a lot different. But in this group, #1 was very good, #2 had a nice solo that moved it way up, 3-6 were all a bit too monotonous, and 7 made me want to put my fingers in my ears. Actually Rare Bird had pretty bad singing, but it was tolerable.
1- Sleater Kinney- Creative sound, no fear sort of group. I like this.
2- Billy Talent- The solo at about 2 minutes is interesting
3- Depeche Mode (In Sympathy)
4- Uriah Heep- A favorite group for over 40 years, a favorite song probably never.
5- Rare Bird
6- Goo Goo Dolls

They're a very talented band. I saw Pearl Jam and they were the opening act and Eddie Vedder came out before they did, as a thank you to everyone who got there early to see them (S-K) and it was a magical moment. Then he introduced S-K and the night just got better and better.
