Yes, older versions (such as Weapon X) are cheaper and have deeper dials, but this one strikes the right balance between defense and offense. Most characters in the same class and cost will have a hard time catching him. Good luck!

For current modern age Wolverines, I think that both IH035 and Fast Forces GSX004 may be better choices for the 70-75 point range. They have more clicks of life, similar powers, and their attack values do not plummet as badly. Of course, charge quite useful.

For 75 Points he opens with Charge/Blades/Exploit and a 10AV. I watched him take down 300 points by HIMSELF in a 500 point game the other day. They hit him hard and he just kept on swinging with that 11 AV and 18 DV on his death click dishing out tons of hurt before he finally went down.

Very effective way to spend 75 points on an attacker in any size game. In fact I think his effectiveness only goes up the bigger the game is, gives him a shot to do big damage to bigger pieces. Just by landing that first attack, Wolverine very likely has already paid for himself. I like that his regen clicks aren't uselessly low defense values like the GSXFF one. Who cares if that one has an extra click when the last two have naked 15/14 DVs. This one actually has a shot to stay alive if he lands on late dial regen. Add a Charge through hindering (no X-Force ATA needed here!) and this budget Wolvering is... err... very good at what he does :)
