2) Uriah Heep - Fudged a little on the title, but I wanted to remind everybody of this one.
3) Bruce Hornsby & The Range - Great song from the 80s without that 80s feel.
4) Nicole Atkins - really nice sultry sound.
5) Elvis Presley - Never been as big an Elvis fan as most, but this is what I look for when i want to hear him.
6) The Strokes - not bad.
7) Donovan Frankenreiter - Good if I'm in the mood for pop.
8) Tesla - Never reaally listened to Tesla much. This isn't going to win me over.

Nicole Atkins – The surprise of the lot for me. It brings me back to another time, but does so with tear jerking ability. She has nice range and brings out the drama in the lyrics.
Tesla – I love the way this song rocks. A bit ballady and then the boys rock it. Classic 80 style.
The Sheepdogs – Good solid blues based rock. Nice rhythm and the song is strong all the way through.
The Strokes – Another good song in this SNDS entry. These guys know how to write a good clean hook. Nice and bouncy.
Bruce Hornsby – I’ve never been a fan of this song. It’s not bad, not at all. It’s got a nice piano riff and a good melody. It’s just not my thing at all.
Donavon Frankenreiter – Soul Train! Again, it’s not a bad song, but really not my style. I could hear myself leaving the top 40 station on to hear it, but nothing more than that.
Uriah Heep -I’m a Uriah Heep purist, and no one but the great Dave Byron can ever be their singer for me. This isn’t a bad song, but the vocals (yeah, I’m going there) don’t pop.
I hate to put Elvis last, but this isn’t titled The Way it Is. This is the Mystery Train/Tiger Man medley.
For some great alternate takes on Mystery Train, check out UFO. This was the first album without Michael Schenker and the guy who replaced him just nails this intro solo. Jeff Beck and Chrissie Hynde Neil Young
Since I'm not the Elvis fan others are, I took it on faith that the song was The Way It Is.
Should I disqualify it?

I wasn't sure where to place Elvis, so I just played it straight as if his song counted.
1) The Sheep Dogs - Never heard of them, but this was a fun, dirty track.
2) The Strokes - Standard Strokes stuff which I always enjoy
3) Donovan Frankenreiter - I liked this more than I thought I would. I'm normally not for 70s disco/overly produced influenced music.
4) Elvis Presley - Fun showmanship here as always. I just like rockabilly Elvis more.
5) Tesla - Good song from a band I never got into.
6) Nicole Atkins - I wanted to like this more than I did. She has a good voice, but there is just something about it that keeps me from liking it too much.
7) Uriah Heep - Ok song, but forgettable.
8) Bruce Hornsby - I'm with VG9 on this. It's not bad, just not my thing, really. Didn't 2Pac sample this?
I think we'll disallow the Elvis song since I was misled by YouTube as to the title of the song.
Still need results from DrFate98 and Wintremute (and wife) for this one.

1- Bruce Hornsby & The Range- One of the calmest, prettiest songs ever. As soon as I saw the title, I started relaxing from a rough day.
2- The Sheep Dogs- I've never heard the Sheep Dogs, but I have to check out more of them. I really like the innovative sound, the small twists and turns.
3- Donovan Frankenreiter- Mellow, funky, subtle, with a very nice retro feel. I like it!
4- Tesla- Enjoyed it more than I expected. I feared there was a guitar solo coming up that would be silly, but it never arrived. Pretty good.
5- Elvis Presley- Elvis on a bad day is always still Elvis! I don't think this song is called The Way It is, but I'm not a stickler!
6- The Strokes- I don't care for this one much. A litle boring.
7- Uriah Heep- Its just amazing how a once great, top of the heap band, gave up greatness to try and sound like everyone else. Awful performance/song.
8- Nicole Atkins- One of the few songs I've heard that I really don't like at all. I couldn't find anything redeeming about it.
