When I use rictor's seismic shock, can the PD and associated team abilities be used to lower defenses?

SEISMIC SHOCK: Rictor can use Quake. He can use it normally or he may instead use it to target each opposing character along a direct line of fire within his range.

When this character is adjacent to a friendly character making a ranged combat attack, modify the target’s defense value by -1 if the target is within line of fire of this character

QUAKE
Give this character a close combat action; this character’s damage value becomes 2 and is locked. Make a close combat attack that targets all opposing characters this character can attack with a close combat attack. Each hit character is knocked back 2 squares.

No you wouldn't because quake is a close combat attack, not a ranged combat attack. His power doesn't change the type of attack.

Ah well, put a jäger adjecent and drop them all was my thought.
