If I am using both M10 006 Marvel Girl and M10 021 Dark Phoenix, if after Dark Phoenix is KO'd, Marvel Girl gets KO'd, can I use my already KO'd Dark Phoenix for Marvel Girl to be replaced by? If not, am I able to have another Dark Phoenix on my sideline wen though they are unique?
BATTLEFIELD PROMOTION: DARK PHOENIX: When Marvel Girl hits one or more opposing characters, after actions resolve, place a Promotion Token on her character card. When Marvel Girl is KO'd, you may then roll a d6 that can't be rerolled and add 1 for each Promotion Token on her character card; on a result of 8 or higher, you may replace this character with M10A #021 Dark Phoenix on its yellow starting line. On a result of 10 or higher, the replaced character begins on its blue starting line. If you rolled a 6 and the result is 12 or higher, the replaced character begins on its green starting line.
If Dark Phoenix is on your force, you are not allowed to have a second one on your sideline. The one that began the game on your force will be moved to your sideline when it is KOed. You can use the one that began the game as your promotion one but there is no way you can ever have two copies of one unique on the map as part of your force (okay, one way, you can use Mind Control and Possession to circumvent that).

I think Victoria Hand has a few words with you sir.
aqhoffman- greatest post possibly ever
jtallday- Jon I wouldn't challenge you if I wasn't sure you are wrong cuz I don't have that kind of energy.
I don't think this is correct, at least not from an intent perspective. I could be wrong though.
Really? Because I could have sworn that was the ruling when someone asked about playing Alyosha Kraven and keeping Beast Boy Gordanian Form on their sideline (two primes).

I just found this paragraph on Page 6 of the 2013 Core Rulebook:
REPLACING CHARACTERS
Certain game effects will call for a character to be replaced with one or more other characters on the map. When assembling your force, you identify these replacement characters although they are not yet on your force. Replacement characters’ point values are not added to your build total. All players should agree on the maximum number of replacement characters allowed per force.
From my understanding of this, does that mean any character on your sideline does not count towards or break the requirements of force construction because "they are not yet on your force." Such as, I could in all actuality have multiple primes or uniques on my sideline and it would be legal?

I'm pretty sure that a_b nailed it, actually.
I don't have access to the old dep cave discussions, but I'm 99.9% positive that sideline figures were governed by the rules of primes and uniques. Like, if my team was Prime Silver Centurion, I could not start with T-Rex Beast Boy and have Prime Beast Boy on the sideline.
The rules say replacement/sideline characters are identified when assembling (and presumably revealing) your force although they are not yet part of your force. I think the issue that generates the OP question (and others I've seen) is that the rulebook never then says when they do become part of your force. A not unreasonable assumption then is that they become part of your force when they come into play, which means up until that point they circumvent any restrictions like the unique/prime rules.
i think that this is what they be put in clear, because in no one page of RB, Golden Age PG or Modern Age PG when apply the rule of unique or prime characters in matters of replacement.
they are need to define when characters on side line become on your force and how long unique/prime rule apply, if apply all the game, we cannot mind control/possession a prime character if we had already one prime character (even if was previously removed from play) or give a "some" character (like Victoria hand or morphing jar)
they only say:
replacement.-When assembling your force, you identify these replacement characters although they are not yet on your force.
unique- only one copy of that character can be part of your force. Unique characters have a silver ring on their bases (older Unique characters may have a gold or bronze ring). A force can’t contain two Unique characters with the same name, the same set symbol, and the same collector’s number.
prime.- When building a force, you may only include one Prime character on it.
