Would a Mind Controlled opposing character take Mystics damage if they hit a character possessing the TA?
Example: My Brother Voodoo mind controls an opposing players Starfire. Starfire then hits the opposing players Ghost Rider. Would Starfire take a Mystics damage for hitting Ghost Rider?
MYSTICS: When a character using the Mystics team ability takes damage
from an attack, the attacker is dealt 1 unavoidable damage. This damage is not an attack.
MIND CONTROL: Give this character a close or ranged combat action (minimum range value 4) that deals no damage. A successfully hit target becomes friendly to your force. Each target hit may be assigned one action as a free action, immediately after which the target becomes an opposing character again. Deal this character 1 unavoidable damage if the successfully hit targets’ combined point value is 150 points or more.
I would argue the controlled character (Starfire) WOULD in fact take the Mystics damage.
Way my venue has always ruled it was the MCed figure (Starfire in your example) takes the mystics damage so I gotta say that's right. If my venue is right then its a great Mystics counter since it'd be turning the TA against the player using the mystic.
I think the rules are pretty clear in this - yes the MCed character takes the Mystics damage. What is the argument in favor of the character not taking Mystics damage?
CarlosMucha: that is like be running in a Olimpic race competition just one step to get the gold and then a Giant children place a mirror in your side and you discover what you are really a hamster over a whell and the gold is just a slice of chess. Avatar Summoning: Original GotG, Melter, Whiplash
If someone says otherwise, let us show brevity and conciseness and simply reply "wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong... wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong! (to tune of clock chimes)"
Point this out: MYSTICS: When a character using the Mystics team ability takes damage

The mind controller has already made their attack, to control the opposing character. The opposing character makes the attack.
That is why when I am rolling for an attack with a mind controlled character I don't care if I get a 2 or a 12 - it's all good for me!

I agree. Some people have been playing for so long that they still use rules from 6-10 years ago. Trying to explain current rules to them is difficult lol.

The rules have never changed, It has always been the attacker who takes the feedback from mystics and the attacker is the mind controlled fig. What has changed is that the mystic could have turned off the team ability prior to the attack before but now you cannot do this.

I don't know, I can't speak for them as to why they didn't know this. Glad it got cleared up.
