By the way, I watched the first two episodes of HBO's new series True Detective and was pleasantly surprised that the mystery story involves a cult of Hastur. Or at least there have been plenty of references to the King in Yellow and Carcosa. I didn't expect this twist, but just by going by the acting and the script, I recommend this TV series to you all. Even if you don't like Woody Harrelson.

"I know what you're thinking. Hey, if Chathulhu is awake, the end is coming, run for the hills, all that stuff. Well, don't worry about it. I'm not really up, I'm just... you ever get that thing where you wake up at three in the morning, you go to the bathroom, and you just can't get back to sleep? I mean, you just lie there, staring at the ceiling and it's just not happening? You're not really awake, just... well, anyway, let's do some chat!"

This theme pleases me. I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of the Cthulhu Wars board game I Kickstartered seemingly aeons ago in April. It looks incredible! So excite!
Welp, got my GenCon badge. Pretty awesome. Last year was my first time there, really excited to be back. Might be hitting up Origins this year too.
Cool deal! Unfortunately my budget is not fit for pre-registration at this time. However, I have promised myself that I will go to Gen Con this year. It'll be my personal celebration when I finally get that full-time job.

That board game's minis look amazing!! At which level did you buy in? I could see myself picking up the game at some point in the future.

I got the game with all the faction expansions other than Azathoth, who I couldn't afford at the time. I also got the H.P. Lovecraft player marker. The Kickstartered saves so much money. At least $10 off each expansion and ALL the solo GOOs for free. Crazy.
Speaking of "insanity inducing literature", twice this week I've been compared to Haymitch Abernathy. Bit of research shows he's from the Snuff Games, er, Hunger Royale...eh, you know what I mean. My question is should I consider them fightin' words or a compliment?
"Nobody important? That's amazing. You know, in 900 years of traveling time and space I've never met someone who wasn't important."

It's Woody Harrelson... I don't know if you consider that a good thing or not.
Haymitch is a former winner of the Hunger games who coaches the new players from District 12 - since District 12 rarely wins, that means there's no one to share the burden with and he gets to see a lot of young people get killed. This has made him rather bitter and prone to drinking. So, you know, he is a bit of a jerk on the surface, but deep down he is a nice and caring guy. Without any context it is hard to see what aspect of him others see in you though.

Woody Harrelson, eh? Kind-of funny considering Chaz's first post for the thread and my fondness of the King in Yellow (and, yes, Colorado and legalized pot probably prompts some jokes too ).
One of the contexts was, "When the world goes to Hell in a handbasket, just figure that [Joe] is the Haymitch Abernathy so stick by him." Didn't know if he was a toady'ing type or what.
The other was just some stupid FB thing of "X amount of FB Friends are now the cast of Hunger Games. Who is who." and I got listed as Haymitch.
Ironically, I'm practically a teetotaler...
