It might be pretty cool, if you make it, like, some sort of steampunk-ish alternate history earth. What if WWI were fought with dragons instead of bi-planes kind of thing.
But, I dunno. We'll just have to see what they do with it.
Yeah, it is pretty funny. If we were talking about licensing the stuff from Naomi Novik's Temeraire book series, then I would be interested. Not keeping up with D&D or WOTC at all, I have no idea how this will work, in terms of upgrades and such. I mean, in the book series, there is actual crews and stuff on dragons.
And the thought of the minis scares me. Let's be honest, spaceships are a tad more simple designs than dragons, usually. I sit here looking at my Valyndra mini, an add on for the Descent boardgame from FFG, and even unpainted, it is worth every penny of the $15 I paid for it. But this is Wizkids. I question how visually appealing this will be, unless they make the sculpts much larger than the standard Flightpath ship.
Though I do find it fascinating how WOTC is licensing out the stuff it owns. First Netrunner, and now allowing a new D&D mini game by Wizkids.
Also, any bets on the game being called Dragon Wing?
I'm still not sure this is anything other than a complete joke (Dragon Wing, that is).
The official announcement just discussed the joint partnership between WK and WOTC for the minis. Pretty sure this is due to the fact that WK is making the Pathfinder minis and Pathfinder is evidently giving D&D a strong run for its money (I have no personal interest in either as I do not do RPGs, that's just the word on the street).
While I never played D&D minis, WOTC stopped producing them so this is likely a way for RPG minis to get produced for D&D without WOTC having to deal with 1) the R&D of rules for each of the figures while 2) shielding themselves from upset D&D mini fans who do not get new elements for a game they still love & enjoy.
So basically, this will be minis only. No cards or anything. Just nice little mini statues for you to use in your RPG game.

Joke or not, that would fly off the shelves (ha!).
The flightpath game system is solid.........and there are lots of geek/nerd/fantasy fans out there who just don't dig Sci-Fi (I didn't say I understand them )..........but put a dragon in front of them and they would be all over it.
I don't think it would be of interest to me, unless there is something really unique about the game play, but I'd be interested to see how it turns out regardless.
It is almost upon us! Are you prepared for the Quarmageddon?

If this is in anyway true, I'll now need to begin seeking out mods of:
Farpoint Aliens
The baby Alien species that "suckled" off of the Ent-D
The form the space-faring Changling took that met Odo on DS9

Yeah, this is my impression as well. I doubt I'd be interested, but I'm sure there are folks at my FLGS who would be. Seems like a solid concept.
CarlosMucha: that is like be running in a Olimpic race competition just one step to get the gold and then a Giant children place a mirror in your side and you discover what you are really a hamster over a whell and the gold is just a slice of chess. Avatar Summoning: Original GotG, Melter, Whiplash
Guys I am their future target buyers!! Flight Path with Dragons will just rock. You would have items for upgrades and so on. I think it might resemble XW more with it having just a pilot though.
I have been buying the Pathfinder minis which for the most part, except for the loose base thing, better quality that Wizards was doing so it will be nice to have more of them. I just hope they don't decide we need another few sets based on Iconic characters. I need some monsters. I do wonder if they will "share" sculpts with common things like the goblins, orcs and kobolds though.

Apparently the Dragon wing thing IS NOT a joke!
The following was posted on Redditt as an answer on that very question:
We're looking at our options, including HeroClix, for future releases. We can confirm that we are doing an Dungeons & Dragons Attack Wing game, which will use the same game engine as Star Trek: Attack Wing.
Our Attack Wing D&D game will be configured very much like our Star Trek: Attack Wing game, with a box set and stand alone visible figures.
Unfortunately, we can't give more detail than to say that it will have a similar product configuration to our Star Trek: Attack Wing game. We'll be revealing a bunch of information about our D&D Attack Wing game at the GAMA trade show in Las Vegas this March. Stay Tuned!
